That timeline not only spanned three wars, but also continued into the later career of defending the Fatherland, with many generations of painters and sculptors participating.
The theme of Armed Forces and revolutionary war is like an endless source for artists - cultural soldiers to create immortal works of art.
For the first time, the Military History Museum displays works of art collected and preserved by the Museum through the ages. From the collection of more than 2,000 works preserved at the Museum, the Organizing Committee has selected 60 works by 60 authors (41 paintings, 9 sculptures, 10 graphics) with content summarizing the long journey of fighting for national liberation and defending the Fatherland, about the love between the army and the people, the camaraderie, the indomitable will to fight and win of the Vietnam People's Army in all military branches.
The displayed works of art are very rich and diverse in terms of materials, perspectives, and expressions of authors from many generations, from 2X to 8X, both inside and outside the army. Not only are there "veteran" names such as Huy Toan, Le Quoc Loc, Do Xuan Doan, Van Da, Duong Vien, Nguyen Thu, Vu Giang Huong, Tran Thanh Ngoc..., but also many generations of artists such as Minh Dinh, Pham Ngoc Lieu, Nguyen Hai Nghiem, Bang Lam, Dao Huu Vinh, Trinh Ba Quat... And also young artists such as Bui Anh Hung, Bui Thanh Tung, Le Hoang Anh...
In particular, the youngest author (born in 1982) whose paintings are exhibited is Nguyen Thi Hai Nhung - a lecturer at Nghe An College of Culture and Arts. She has a rather new perspective on a seemingly dry and old topic in the painting "Remembering".
She confided: "I was born in peace, but my images of war through the stories of my parents who went through the war, inspired me to paint these difficult-themed paintings, with all my respect and love for the soldiers."
Lieutenant Colonel Le Vu Huy - Director of the Military History Museum, shared: "The theme of the armed forces and revolutionary war to protect the Fatherland is like an endless source for artists to create art. The exhibition "Timeline" is an opportunity to honor the silent creative contributions of artists - cultural soldiers throughout the journey of national liberation war and building and protecting the Fatherland".
The Timeline art exhibition opens today, August 29, 2023, at building S3 of the Military History Museum, 28A Dien Bien Street, Hanoi and will last for 1 month.
