Taking a boat on the river, gliding gently through the majestic mountains, the magical caves, listening to the boatman explain the meaning of the names of the caves or the legends associated with them is a memorable experience when visitors come to Trang An. The most famous story is probably the Wine Making Cave. Legend has it that because they discovered a well of good water in the cave, the ancients came here to get water to make wine for the king. The name of the cave was born from that.
Along with that are the fascinating stories of Si cave, Sinh cave, Ba Giot cave, Quy Hau cave… told by the boatmen who are also “tour guides”. Each cave has its own unique features as their names suggest, the caves all have many changing stalactites, water flows from the ceiling making the air in the cave cool.
The wonderful blend of flowers, limestone mountains and gentle, soothing water has transformed the familiar landscape into a colorful masterpiece.
When is the best time to travel to Ninh Binh? In autumn, the whole land of Trang An is covered with a lush green coat of trees and mountains.
Tuyet Tinh Coc, also known as Am Tien Cave, is a place about 5km from Trang An tourist area with the shape of a valley surrounded by limestone mountains and tunnels through the mountains. In autumn, the water under the cave is clear, allowing you to clearly see the scenery like an aquarium at the bottom of the river. (Photo: MiA)
When the bright sunlight and golden rice fields begin to give way to the vast, clean green of the sky and earth, it is also the time when autumn begins to knock on the door of Trang An scenic area.
Different from the beauty of the golden season in May - June, Trang An and Sao Khe River in Autumn are much more peaceful and quiet. If in Summer Trang An stands out with the yellow color of rice fields, in Autumn this place is immersed in a peaceful space of green. The charming beauty of mountains and rivers captivates many tourists, especially photographers.

The air at this time is also much milder compared to the heat of summer a few months ago. Looking down from above, you can see more clearly the rocks and mountains when the trees covering them have shed their leaves. This is the low tourist season, so visitors to Ninh Binh will also find it easier and more relaxing, without the crowded and cramped scene.
Sao Khe River in the fall is not the festival season so there are fewer visitors, giving visitors a feeling of peace and tranquility. The river water is so clear that visitors sitting on a boat can see clumps of moss swaying with each stroke of the paddle, in many places you can even see the riverbed.
