Trang An is a village of Truong Yen commune (Hoa Lu) located about 4 km south of Hoa Lu ancient capital.
The cave tourist area, also known as the Trang An cave complex, has about 50 caves out of nearly 100 caves with water, connected by nearly 30 valleys (now nearly 30 lakes). The caves all have their own beauty such as: Ba Giot cave, Dia Linh cave, Toi cave, Sang cave, Ao Trai cave, Seo cave, Si cave, Sinh cave, Thuoc cave... Many caves have stalactites flowing from above, stacked layer by layer, soft and shiny, each person can imagine different shapes. In the Trang An cave complex, there are nearly 30 valleys. The largest valley is Den Tran valley (241,600 m2), the smallest valley is Sang valley (15,400 m2). Each valley is a different ink painting of mountains and water. Sky clouds, green mountains, silver water blend together, appearing and disappearing. Lake water reflects the mountains and clouds; both majestic and dreamy, magical and mysterious. The strange thing is that the valleys are all connected by water caves of different lengths. These are underground streams of water, so that the mountains are attached, mutually supportive, and blended together, friendly like people linking arms. The mountains form ramparts surrounding the lake in the middle with hills and islands. Looking far away on the mountainside, visitors can see a few small animals and herds of goats running and eating leaves. Each mountain has its own unique shape, and together with the clouds, the sky, the rivers, the grass and trees have created a unique and pristine water cave complex that cannot be found anywhere else. The special thing is that the Trang An tourist complex in general and the Trang An cave complex in particular are located near other tourist areas of the province such as: Hoa Lu Ancient Capital Historical Site, Van Long Wetland Ecotourism Area, Tam Coc - Bich Dong Tourist Area, Dong Chuong Lake, Cuc Phuong National Park... According to the assessment of tourism experts: Trang An tourist complex, after completion, will become a comprehensive tourist area of national and international stature. This place has a synthesis of tourism types: Historical tourism, cultural tourism, festival - spiritual tourism, eco-tourism, cave exploration tourism, mountain climbing tourism, entertainment tourism, medical resort tourism; culinary tourism, boating tourism, windsurfing, fishing, scientific research tourism... in which the most basic characteristics are still: historical tourism, cultural tourism and ecological tourism. The establishment of Trang An tourist area will contribute to preserving, embellishing and promoting the value of the Hoa Lu ancient capital relic site, making the natural landscape more beautiful: protecting the natural landscape, dredging rivers, preserving caves, planting more trees... making the environment clean and beautiful. Beautifying and protecting temples, pagodas, historical relics. Organizing traditional festivals, promoting intangible cultural values. Developing local traditional occupations, developing services, creating many tourism products to attract domestic and foreign visitors. Increasing the connection between Hoa Lu ancient capital and Thang Long (Hanoi), towards the 1000th anniversary of Hoa Lu - Thang Long - Hanoi. The establishment of Trang An tourist area will create jobs for thousands of local workers, create income for local people by developing various types of services, serving guests, contributing to increasing the State budget and shifting the economic structure of the province towards developing tourism - services.
