Yen Bai - In recent years, the Women's Union of Mu Cang Chai district has promoted and mobilized female members to boldly change their thinking, change the structure of crops and livestock, helping members to develop the economy and sustainably reduce poverty.

The District Women's Union has 14 grassroots associations, 98 branches with over 12,000 members regularly participating in association activities. With the motto of focusing on the grassroots level "Where there are women, there are association activities", the branches constantly innovate the content and methods of operation, attracting a large number of women to participate in the association.
The District Women's Union has directed all levels of the union to well implement the two breakthroughs and three key tasks launched by the higher-level union; focus on propaganda and political and ideological education for cadres and members; focus on closely leading the implementation of the political tasks of the District Party Committee; and implement the Party's directives and resolutions.
In particular, the Association has focused on directing the Women's Unions of communes and towns to effectively implement the movements: "Helping poor women have addresses"; "Women help each other develop the economy, reduce poverty sustainably" and "Women are good at production and business"; implementing Project 939 "Supporting women to start businesses in the period 2017 - 2025" associated with strengthening integration and enhancing economic power for women.
Realizing the potential of the land suitable for pear growing, and having participated in training courses and technical transfer instructions, Ms. Lu Thi Da, in De Cho Chua B village, Pung Luong commune, boldly converted ineffective corn growing areas to grow more than 100 green pear trees. Up to now, the pear trees have grown well and produced a harvest. Ms. Da shared: "In the past 2 years, pear trees have helped my family have a stable source of income. Last year, my family earned nearly 100 million VND from selling pears."
In order to create conditions for women members in the district to access loan policies, as well as create opportunities for women to demonstrate their abilities in raising awareness, changing thinking and working methods, enhancing economic power, eliminating gender stereotypes and prejudices; giving women opportunities to affirm their role in the family and participate in building and developing the community, Mu Cang Chai Women's Union at all levels has promoted propaganda and dissemination of the Party's policies and the State's laws and policies on collective economic development to cadres and members so that members understand and voluntarily participate.
To date, the Association has established 22 cooperative groups on cultivation, animal husbandry, sales... led by women; supported 11 livelihood models to develop production and animal husbandry, bringing economic efficiency. Typical examples are the animal husbandry models of the members: Giang Thi Dua, in Nam Khat Village, Nam Khat Commune; Hoang Thi Hien, in Lim Thai Village, Cao Pha Commune; Ho Thi Sung, in Khao Mang Village, Khao Mang Commune... The models help female members escape poverty sustainably. The Association also maintains 137 household economic development models that bring economic efficiency; helping 79 member households escape poverty, 71 households escape near poverty.
Along with that, the District Women's Union directed the Women's Unions of communes and towns to properly implement the trust contract with the District Social Policy Bank to lend to poor households and policy beneficiaries. Up to now, the total outstanding debt entrusted by the Unions at all levels has reached over 131 billion VND, with 2,138 households borrowing capital to ensure proper and effective use. There is no overdue debt or bad debt.
The Women's Unions at all levels also pay attention to and help support women in starting their own businesses, through training in business start-ups, transferring science and technology, participating in short-term vocational training courses such as: Cooking techniques, tourism, mushroom growing, brocade embroidery... for female members of ethnic minorities, poor and near-poor households. In 2024, the Women's Unions at all levels in the district created new jobs for nearly 1,300 people, of which 704 were socio-economic development workers; 526 were workers from other provinces; 62 borrowed capital from the National Employment Support Fund; and 2 were exported workers. Thereby, contributing to job creation and increasing income for female members.
Chairwoman of Mu Cang Chai District Women's Union Khang Thi Mao said: "In the coming time, the Union will continue to innovate propaganda and mobilization work, raise awareness for members; promote the role of mastery and democracy practice of members and women. Pay attention to supporting women in economic development, implementing policies to support groups of elderly women, single women, and women in difficult circumstances in the area. Innovate direction and management work, promote the application of information technology, unify and synchronize in performing the organization's political tasks in the direction of "The district accompanies the grassroots, the commune firmly grasps the members, the Branch understands women", contributing to building an increasingly strong union organization".
