"The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has established five inspection teams on extra teaching and learning. The inspection will be carried out in March 2025.

Specifically, it is to inspect the teaching and learning of extra classes inside and outside of schools at public secondary and high schools, and tutoring facilities in 22 districts," said a leader of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training.

At the same time, districts and Thu Duc City also plan to inspect extra teaching in the area, the inspection period is from the end of February 2025 until the end of the 2024-2025 school year.

According to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, the inspection of extra teaching and learning aims to grasp the actual situation: "After Circular 29 on extra teaching and learning of the Ministry of Education and Training came into effect, how did it actually happen? Did schools, teachers... encounter any difficulties; how was the organization of training for excellent students, students who had not achieved; how was the organization of review for students in grades 9 and 12, were there any problems...

The inspection aims to guide, correct, and enhance the role and sense of responsibility of schools and teachers. The purpose of the inspection is not to scrutinize or put pressure, but to comply with Circular 29. Teachers are required to strictly follow the regulations on extra teaching and learning" - the leader of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training emphasized.

Absolutely no tutoring for primary school students

Previously, on February 17, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City issued a document on extra teaching, requiring units to resolutely not allow illegal extra teaching to occur.

The Department noted that schools and teachers need to focus on educating primary schools about absolutely not organizing extra classes for primary school students.

"Schools adjust and develop plans to implement the 2-session/day program in accordance with the requirements of the 2018 general education program; Strengthen and supplement club activities, talent development activities (arts, sports...), life skills training, ensuring suitability with local characteristics and pick-up and drop-off times of parents;

The Department of Education and schools need to take measures according to their authority or report to competent authorities about cases of violations of regulations on extra teaching and learning in the area;..." - the document clearly stated.

I am a parent who has never sent my child to extra classes. I am also a school manager and have never thought about organizing extra classes in my school.
