On the afternoon of March 23, 2025, the price of live pigs in the North continued to maintain stability, fluctuating between 72,000 - 73,000 VND/kg, similar to the previous day. Provinces such as Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Vinh Phuc, Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, Lao Cai, Yen Bai and Phu Tho all recorded prices of 72,000 VND/kg, while Thai Nguyen, Hung Yen and Bac Giang reached 73,000 VND/kg. Although the market has not fluctuated much, the current price is the lowest since the beginning of March, causing farmers to worry about profits in the coming time. Compared to other regions, the North still shows more stability, but the pressure from low prices may affect market sentiment if there are no positive signals in the coming days.

On the afternoon of March 23, 2025, the price of live pigs in the South continued to decrease sharply, with many localities adjusting the purchase price down by 1,000 - 2,000 VND/kg compared to the previous day. Long An and Tien Giang recorded the deepest decrease, down to 77,000 VND/kg, while Hau Giang, Soc Trang and Bac Lieu also decreased to 78,000 VND/kg.
Provinces such as Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, Dong Thap, Ben Tre, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Tra Vinh fluctuated between 77,000 - 78,000 VND/kg, with many places decreasing by 1,000 VND/kg. Only An Giang, Can Tho, Kien Giang, Ca Mau and Vinh Long kept prices stable at 78,000 - 79,000 VND/kg, but the pressure to reduce prices is still present.
The main reason for this decline is the sharp increase in pork supply after the herd restoration period, while meat consumption has not shown any significant signs of recovery, putting the market under great pressure.
Pig price forecast for tomorrow, March 23, 2025, unlikely to recover immediately
The price of live pigs on March 23, 2025 is forecast to continue to decrease slightly, especially in the Central and Southern regions, due to the strong increase in supply from the herd restoration after Tet, while consumption demand has not shown clear signs of recovery. According to analysis from experts, the South may witness a decrease of 1,000-2,000 VND/kg in some provinces such as Long An, Tien Giang and Dong Thap, bringing the price to 76,000-78,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, the Central region recorded downward pressure from localities such as Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan, the price is expected to fluctuate between 76,000-77,000 VND/kg.
In the North, the market tends to be more stable, but some provinces such as Thai Binh or Hai Duong are still likely to decrease by another VND1,000/kg due to excess supply. However, the average price in the whole region is forecast to remain around VND72,000-73,000/kg. The main reason for the price decrease is due to high livestock costs combined with weak purchasing power from the domestic market.
Short-term forecasts show that the downward pressure on prices may last until the end of March, but the price of live pigs on March 23, 2025 is expected to be the bottom before the market recovers slightly in early April, thanks to increased demand from the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day and the consolidation of goods by distributors. Experts recommend that farmers closely monitor market developments to adjust their selling plans appropriately, avoiding losses due to price fluctuations.
