Nam Nghiep village is located in Ngoc Chien commune, Muong La district, Son La province. Located at an altitude of nearly 2,500m above sea level, Nam Nghiep is the highest and farthest place in the commune.
Along the way, you can admire the majestic scenery of the Northwest mountains and forests. With this method, tourists can also take a sleeper bus to Son La, then catch another bus to Ngoc Chien. From Ngoc Chien commune, go deep into Nam Nghiep village, Son La, about 8km more, tourists can rent a motorbike or hire a local motorbike taxi to take them to the village.
Nam Nghiep village in the season of hawthorn flowers adds a pure beauty, creating a lyrical highlight for the mountain forest scene. Hawthorn flowers are white, often blooming in clusters of 3-5 flowers, looking from afar quite similar to plum and pear flowers, but the pistil is yellow and lasts a little longer. This is a tree that can withstand wind, rain, and harsh weather, symbolizing the tenacious and resilient vitality of the H'Mong people in the highlands.
From above, the hawthorn flowers bloom white on the hills, like a new coat on the mountains. In the distance, people in traditional costumes are harvesting the fruit to soak in wine, honey or sugar.
Coming to Nam Nghiep Son La village, you can rent a bicycle to ride around the village, breathe in the fresh air, experience picking wild apples, wading in streams... like a local.
The hawthorn area in Nam Nghiep village is over 1,600 hectares wide and is considered the largest in the country, creating a majestic and poetic landscape. When the flowers are in full bloom, the whole space is filled with pure white.
This year, the prolonged cold weather has caused the hawthorn flowers to bloom later than usual. However, this year promises to be the most beautiful hawthorn flower season in the past 5 years. The "golden" time for visitors to admire the brilliant beauty of hawthorn flowers will start from mid-March and last until the end of April.
