Ministry of Finance informs about the purchase of imported public cars

The Ministry of Finance has just issued Official Dispatch No. 3646/BTC-QLCS to ministries, branches and localities regarding the purchase of imported public cars.

The document stated that, implementing the direction of the Prime Minister in Official Dispatch No. 36/TTg-KTTH dated September 22, 2010, the Ministry of Finance issued Official Dispatch No. 16308/BTC-QLCS dated November 30, 2010 to ministries, branches, localities, corporations, and economic groups established by the Prime Minister regarding instructions on temporarily suspending the purchase of imported public cars.

On December 26, 2024, the Ministry of Finance issued Official Dispatch No. 14341/BTC-QLCS reporting to the Prime Minister on the purchase of imported public cars. Accordingly, the Ministry of Finance proposed that the Prime Minister direct not to temporarily suspend the purchase of imported cars as directed in Official Dispatch No. 36/TTg-KTTH on limiting trade deficit. The management and use (including standards, norms, and purchases) of cars shall comply with the provisions of the law on management and use of public assets and relevant laws.

On March 17, 2025, the Government Office issued Official Dispatch No. 2192/VPCP-KTTH on the purchase of imported public cars, in which the Government leader directed the purchase, management and use of public cars (including standards and norms on types, quantities and prices) to comply with the provisions of the law on management and use of public assets, the law on bidding and related laws; ensuring savings, efficiency, publicity, transparency and anti-waste.

Therefore, the Ministry of Finance informs agencies and units to know and implement according to the provisions of law and the direction of the Government leaders. In case of any problems arising in practice, agencies and units shall send documents to the Ministry of Finance for guidance or summarize and report to competent authorities./.
