At the 4th Conference of the Central Secretariat of the Vietnam Student Association, term XI, 2023-2024, delegates made many important proposals to promote science - technology and digital transformation in the activities of the Vietnam Student Association.
One of the important contents discussed at the conference was the implementation of Resolution 57 with three main pillars: science - technology, innovation and digital transformation. These are core areas that shape the future of young human resources, requiring students to not only study well but also have innovative thinking and practical application skills.
Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet - Secretary of the Central Youth Union, President of the Central Vietnam Student Association, emphasized: “Digital transformation is not only a trend but has become an inevitable requirement for all fields, including the Association's work and the student movement. The Vietnam Student Association needs to proactively adapt and be creative in its methods of operation, while creating practical values to help students improve their digital capacity and adapt to the labor market in the new context”.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet also suggested that the Association's branches focus on three key tasks: Improving digital capacity for Association officials and students; Applying technology in managing and implementing movements; Building an ecosystem to support innovation and scientific research among students.
“Resolution No. 57 must be integrated and clearly demonstrated in each movement and each operational criterion of the Association. With the high requirements set forth in the resolution, we also need to adjust and update the criteria on learning, scientific research, international integration, etc. in a way that is more advanced and suitable for the new development context,” said Mr. Triet.
Regarding the Regulations for selecting the titles of “5 Good Students” and “5 Good Student Collective” at the Central level, Mr. Triet also suggested that delegates discuss and contribute to adjusting the criteria in the direction of improving the quality and value of the movement. “Each individual who achieves the title at the Central level must be truly exemplary, representing the collective and individuals, creating new vitality to spread the movement,” said comrade Nguyen Minh Triet.
According to comrade Nguyen Minh Triet, the Association's criteria must be higher than the general level, so that students can have solid preparation, confidence to integrate and assert themselves in a challenging working environment.
The plan to “Support the exam season” in 2025 needs to ensure practicality and promote local volunteer forces. In particular, the program needs to be linked to the expertise and strengths of students in each group of majors, applying science and technology in the spirit of Resolution 57 to create practical works and tasks.
Also at the Conference, Journalist Phung Cong Suong - Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper pointed out that currently, only about 10% of students are truly passionate about scientific research, while this is an important foundation for Vietnam to catch up with the global technology development trend. "Students are the core force in this transformation, but without proper guidance and environment, it is difficult for them to fully develop their potential," Mr. Phung Cong Suong emphasized.
To solve this problem, it is necessary to build more “technology incubators” where students can test their ideas and participate in real projects. In addition, connecting students with businesses and putting research topics into practical applications is also a way to help students see the value of science and technology and have more motivation to pursue this field.
