Accordingly, at 10:10 p.m. on July 29, at the Hon Gai Coal Company - TKV, Quang Ninh province, a serious mine accident occurred, killing 5 workers. The initial cause was determined to be a sudden collapse of coal and rock in the mine.

Prime Minister visits and offers condolences to the victim's family

Upon receiving information about the accident, the Prime Minister sent his condolences to the family and relatives of the victim.

He directed the leaders of Quang Ninh province and TKV to go directly to the scene of the accident to direct the handling of consequences and visit the families of the victims in the accident.

Accordingly, the head of the Government requested the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province to urgently organize thoughtful visits, promptly support and encourage the families of the deceased victims and carry out procedures related to the deceased victims.

At the same time, the province continues to focus on directing the provincial police and functional forces to urgently investigate, clarify the cause, promptly overcome the consequences of the accident, clarify the responsibilities of related organizations and individuals and strictly handle violations.

Directing to strengthen inspection and examination work, promptly detect and handle violations of labor safety regulations in coal mining activities, and prevent similar cases from occurring.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade coordinates with the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises to direct TKV to carefully review regulations, standards, and processes for mining and operating mines, promptly overcome shortcomings and limitations, and ensure absolute safety for workers.

TKV closely coordinated with the functional forces of Quang Ninh province to urgently overcome the consequences of the accident. Timely provided material and spiritual support to the victim's family and fully implemented policies for the victim according to regulations.

Review underground mining process to prevent similar accidents

Request TKV to coordinate with functional units of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to review regulations, standards, and processes for mining and operating mines in units under the group, ensuring absolute safety for workers in production.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment shall perform state management of mineral activities, basic geological and mineral surveys, geological hazard monitoring, and mineral exploration to have timely solutions to prevent similar occupational accidents from occurring in coal mining activities in the future.

The Prime Minister also assigned the Chairman and General Director of TKV to urgently organize the settlement of the consequences of the accident, promptly provide material and spiritual support to the victims' families, and fully implement policies for victims according to regulations.

Proactively review regulations, standards, mining and mine operation processes in affiliated units.

Timely overcome limitations; the mining process needs to focus on monitoring, supervising, and evaluating changes in the structure of coal seams and tunnels to have timely solutions, avoid occupational accidents, and ensure absolute safety for workers in coal mining activities.

Accordingly, the Prime Minister assigned Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang to directly go to the scene of the accident to direct relevant ministries and agencies to urgently overcome the consequences of the accident and promptly offer condolences to the families and relatives of the victims.
