At least 10 people were killed and 39 others injured in a serious traffic accident in southern Türkiye on May 26. The Turkish government announced the opening of an investigation into the serious accident.
Sharing on social network X, Minister Ali Yerlikaya said that the accident occurred when an intercity bus collided with three other vehicles, creating a chain accident in the Yenice area of the TAG Highway. Turkish media reported that the bus traveling from Diyarbakir to Istanbul crashed into two cars and a pickup truck on the road through the Tarsus district near the Mediterranean city of Mersi.
The bus slipped in the rain, overturned and crossed into the opposite lane, causing a chain reaction accident, Xinhua news agency quoted Mersin Governor Ali Hamza Pehlivan as saying. Police, gendarmes, medical and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the scene of the accident.
