Cu Chi District proposed to rename National Highway 22, from An Suong intersection to the border of Tay Ninh province (welcome gate) to Phan Van Khai Street.
The information was announced by Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Hien, Chairwoman of Cu Chi District People's Committee on the afternoon of December 27. The proposal to name the street after the late Prime Minister Phan Van Khai is to commemorate the 90th anniversary of his birth. At the same time, this is also to show the gratitude of the city's people in general and Cu Chi District's people in particular for the late Prime Minister's contributions.

According to Ms. Hien, when the street name is changed, people living in the area will be affected to some extent. However, paper household registration books are no longer used, so the procedure is simpler. "The government will support people to change related documents when necessary," Ms. Hien said.
National Highway 22 is nearly 60 km long, connecting Ho Chi Minh City to Moc Bai border gate, Tay Ninh province. The route starts at An Suong intersection in District 12, passes through Hoc Mon and Cu Chi districts (Ho Chi Minh City), Trang Bang town, Go Dau district (Tay Ninh) and ends at Moc Bai border gate. This is an axis in the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway project that is being prepared for implementation.
