Pepsico's four carbonated water and Aquafina production lines with a capacity of nearly 450 million liters per year will move to Long An.

In the latest environmental impact assessment report of the project in Long An, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage Company Limited (SPVB) said it will move 4 production lines from the factory in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City to install in Huu Thanh Industrial Park, Duc Hoa District, Long An Province. This is to better meet market demand and facilitate production.

This is Suntory Pepsico's 6th factory in Vietnam, with a large scale (20 hectares, investment of more than 300 million USD) and the most modern in Asia - Pacific with a capacity of up to 800 million liters per year when put into operation.

This move could optimize production capacity and increase the total scale of the Long An project from 796 million to 1,244 million liters per year. The project is expected to produce non-alcoholic beverages, including 8 production lines for bottled water, carbonated and non-carbonated beverages. Four production lines were transferred from Ho Chi Minh City to Long An, including two carbonated beverage production lines (expected to be installed in 2025); two Aquafina bottled water production lines (installed in 2026). The new production lines in Long An province will be installed gradually in 2025 and 2028.

In total, the project has an annual capacity of 485 million liters of bottled water, 623 million liters of carbonated beverages, and 136 million liters of non-carbonated beverages. All will serve the domestic market.

SPVB estimates that once operational, the plant will use 57,504 tons of sugar each year. This figure accounts for about 5% of Vietnam's consumption in the 2023-2024 crop year, according to data from the Vietnam Sugarcane and Sugar Association.

According to a report by Suntory, a Japanese food and beverage giant and a 51% shareholder in SPVB (Pepsico holds the remaining 49%), its business in Vietnam generated revenue of 80.5 billion yen (about 13,500 billion VND) in the first half of this year, up 3.9% year-on-year. This is the highest figure in Suntory's Asia-Pacific markets, excluding Japan, Suntory's home market. Suntory said its results in Vietnam were largely contributed by two products, Pepsi and Aquafina.
