Quang Nam opens two bridges across the two largest rivers in the province

On March 23, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province held a ceremony to open the technical traffic of Song Thu bridge and An Binh bridge, which are part of the projects connecting DT.609C to QL14B and QL14H to DT.609C. These are two projects spanning the two major rivers of the province, Thu Bon and Vu Gia. The event is even more meaningful as it takes place on the occasion of Quang Nam province celebrating the 50th anniversary of the province's liberation (March 24, 1975 - March 24, 2025) and the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Provincial Party Committee (March 28, 1930 - March 28, 2025).

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee Tran Nam Hung expressed his joy and excitement when witnessing two of the key, strategic traffic projects being technically opened to traffic.

“These two bridges not only demonstrate the province’s technical and project implementation capacity, but are also a fundamental and sustainable solution to overcome geographical isolation and completely eliminate the use of boats and ferries, which pose many potential safety risks, especially during the rainy season. Now, people can travel, produce, and trade more conveniently than ever before,” Mr. Hung emphasized.

According to Mr. Hung, the achievements today are due to the close and regular direction of the provincial leaders, the sense of responsibility, professionalism and effective coordination of related units, construction contractors... Especially the consensus, sharing and responsible support of the people in the project area - those who did not hesitate to suffer, were willing to give up land, and coordinated to clear the site on schedule.

“After completion, Song Thu Bridge and An Binh Bridge will not only help connect the communes of Tay Duy Xuyen and Dai Loc B, but also shorten travel distances, promote tourism and cultural development in the western districts, create favorable conditions to attract investment, improve the quality of life and expand urban space, while strengthening national defense and security. In other words, this is not only a traffic project but also a new driving force for development, the belief and pride of the people in a modern, growing and developing Quang Nam,” Mr. Hung shared his expectations.

Speaking at the ceremony , Mr. Nguyen Van Thuong, Director of the Management Board of Investment and Construction of Traffic Works of Quang Nam Province (representing the investor) said that the project connecting Highway 14H to DT609C (Duy Xuyen - Dai Loc) has a total length of 6km, of which the Song Thu bridge across Thu Bon River is 669m long. The project starts at the intersection with Highway 14H in Duy Phu Commune (Duy Xuyen District) and ends at the intersection with DH5.DL Road in Dai Thang Commune (Dai Loc District). The project has a total investment of 378 billion VND from the provincial budget.

The project connecting DT609C road to QL14B (Dai Loc) is 3.93km long; of which An Binh bridge across Vu Gia river is 1,060m long. The project starts at the intersection with DT.609C road in Dai Minh commune, and ends at the intersection with QL14B in Dai Quang commune (Dai Loc district). The project has a total investment of 550 billion VND, of which the central budget supports 440 billion VND, the rest is from the provincial budget.

Song Thu Bridge and An Binh Bridge are both 9m wide; of which the roadway is 8m wide. The road has an asphalt concrete structure with a 9m wide roadbed and an 8m wide road surface. The entire route of the project is equipped with an electric lighting system.

“Today’s technical opening ceremony not only marks an important step in the completion of the project but also demonstrates Quang Nam province’s strong commitment to investing in and developing the transport infrastructure system, creating new momentum for the sustainable development of the locality. This is also a meaningful gift on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the province’s Liberation Day and the 95th anniversary of the founding of the provincial Party Committee, affirming the continuation of the revolutionary tradition, the spirit of solidarity and the determination to build an increasingly prosperous and civilized homeland,” said Mr. Thuong.

The investor representative also pledged to continue to make efforts and focus on completing the remaining access roads of the project to promote the investment efficiency of these two bridges. When the entire route is completed, the benefits that the works bring will contribute to improving the quality of traffic, promoting socio-economic development for the locality.
