The main dam of the Nam Rom Dai Thuy Nong project has an average flow rate of 5m3/s and is responsible for regulating irrigation water for more than 3,400 hectares of two-crop rice in Muong Thanh field. To exploit water resources effectively, management and operation have been implemented with many specific solutions.
Mr. Vu Xuan Vien, Deputy Director of Dien Bien Irrigation Management Company Limited, said: "The company regularly inspects and evaluates the current status of irrigation works to take measures to repair, dredge, clear trees and weeds, and clear the flow. Coordinate with local authorities to propagate and mobilize people to participate in protecting the works, have plans for rotating irrigation and economical irrigation to serve production."
Dien Bien province currently has nearly 980 irrigation works with a total designed irrigation area of over 38,000 hectares. To effectively manage and exploit water resources, many specific solutions have been implemented; one of the important tasks is to protect water security and strictly handle acts of encroachment on water resources.

In the inspection work, the Department has conducted 6 inspections, of which 2 were chaired by the Department, advising the Provincial People's Committee to fine Pa Khoang Dien Bien Company Limited 413 million VND, coordinating with the Department of Water Resources Management to inspect hydropower plants and advising the Ministry Inspectorate to fine 890 million VND".
