On February 21, information from K Hospital said that from February 19-21, the hospital's team of doctors coordinated with experts from Nagoya University Hospital in Japan to successfully perform surgery using modern robots for 3 cancer patients, including one patient with liver cancer and 2 patients with gastrointestinal cancer.

Specifically, the liver cancer patient who underwent surgery on the morning of February 21 was a 67-year-old female patient. After examination and performing tests and imaging, the patient was diagnosed with a liver tumor measuring 4x5 cm, located in the lower lobe II.

After consultation, the team of doctors determined that the patient met the conditions for robotic laparoscopic surgery. As a result, the patient underwent surgery to resect the liver in segment II. The patient was stable after surgery.

Another case that also had successful robotic surgery on February 20 was a 66-year-old female patient, with a healthy medical history, diagnosed with stage 3 gastric cancer, with good general health, liver and kidney function, and a response to robotic laparoscopic surgery. The patient had a near-total gastrectomy and lymph node dissection.

The third case is a 67-year-old female patient who has had bloody stools for the past month, poor appetite and sleep, weight loss, and an endoscopy found a 3x3.5cm tumor 4cm from the edge of the anus, occupying nearly half the circumference of the intestine. Doctors diagnosed her with low rectal cancer.

All 3 patients had successful surgery, are currently in stable health, and are being monitored and treated at the hospital.

Previously, in January 2024, within the framework of the scientific workshop "What can be done better for patients with digestive cancer: from advanced laparoscopic surgery to robotic surgery", the team of doctors from K Hospital in collaboration with experts from the Robotic Surgery Center, Weill Cornell Medical College, New York also successfully performed surgery using modern robots for 2 patients with stomach cancer and rectal cancer.

According to doctors, robotic surgery is an advanced, minimally invasive surgical method at the highest level, helping patients minimize damage and recover quickly after surgery.

" The application of many modern techniques in cancer treatment has brought positive signals to patients and their families, thereby giving patients more hope and determination to comply with the treatment regimen ," experts emphasized.
