Timely emergency care for a 32-year-old woman who gave birth to a baby girl at home

Doctors at Le Van Viet Hospital (Thu Duc) have just provided timely emergency care to a 32-year-old woman who went into premature labor and gave birth at home.

A representative of Le Van Viet Hospital (Thu Duc) said that on March 2, pregnant woman NTKN (32 years old, Thu Duc) had symptoms of abdominal pain and ruptured membranes.

Due to the frequent contractions, the mother pushed out of inertia and "gave birth" to a baby at home.

As soon as the news was received, the hospital's emergency team quickly arrived at the mother's home to provide emergency care to both mother and baby, and cut the baby's umbilical cord.

MSc. Dang Thi Thu Ha - head of the obstetrics and gynecology department of Le Van Viet Hospital - said the baby girl weighs 2.7 kg.

After emergency treatment, the doctors performed post-partum care for the mother and baby. The health of both mother and baby was stable. They were discharged from the hospital on March 6.

According to Dr. Ha, "giving birth" will cause both mother and child to face many dangerous complications, especially in the case of premature babies.

The baby may suffer from respiratory failure, circulatory failure, blood infection and respiratory diseases due to unsanitary conditions during childbirth; and the mother may experience many complications affecting her health and life.

Therefore, pregnant women need to have regular pregnancy check-ups. When there are unusual signs such as abdominal pain, bleeding or vaginal discharge... they need to be hospitalized early for timely treatment at medical facilities with full specialties (obstetrics, pediatrics, anesthesia...) with operating rooms, equipment, and necessary tools prepared for emergency treatment.

It is known that Ms. N.'s family is in difficult circumstances, and during her pregnancy, her husband was not by her side. Due to financial constraints, the pregnant woman did not go for regular prenatal checkups, so she did not know the exact due date. This was her fourth birth.
