Specialist Doctor Training 1
Doctor Nguyen Van Chung, Hanoi Post Office Hospital said, according to the regulations of the Ministry of Health, specialist doctor 1 is a title applied to those who have graduated from postgraduate specialized in the medical field.
To become a specialist 1, students must have at least 12 months of clinical experience, be under 50 years old for men and 45 years old for women. Students must spend 2-3 years studying at universities specializing in medical fields.
After graduation, these doctors must study further to obtain a practicing certificate and further study to obtain a more advanced degree in a specific field.
Doctors are only granted a level 1 specialist degree after a decision has been made to recognize graduation and are only granted once with a transcript of academic results. If the certificate is lost, crumpled, or damaged beyond use, for a valid reason, it will be considered and a replacement certificate will be issued.
After graduation, specialist doctors 1 can use this degree to study to improve their professional qualifications, exchange science domestically and internationally or study to convert to an equivalent degree.
Master of Medicine Training
Master of Medicine is a title used for doctors who graduate from a medical university nationwide.
After completing a medical school program (usually lasting six years), doctors are eligible to apply for and complete a graduate program to earn a master's degree.
The master's program focuses on improving professional qualifications and research related to a specific medical field. The program equips doctors with knowledge and improves their treatment ability in the specialty they are pursuing. Usually, doctors who choose to study for a master's or doctorate degree often have a research and teaching orientation.
To register for a master's program, doctors need to meet three basic requirements: a university degree, years of experience working in the medical field, and transfer conditions according to general regulations of the Ministry of Health.
Can a specialist 1 transfer to a master of medicine?
According to Dr. Chung, a medical specialist 1 is equivalent to a master's degree, so students can completely switch between a medical master's degree and a medical specialist 1 if they fully meet the requirements and conditions of each case below:
- Specialization 1 and master's degree are the same.
- Have a letter of assignment to transfer study from the management agency.
- Complete the missing subjects of the master's program and successfully defend the thesis.
Conversely, a medical master can also study to convert to a specialist 1 if the above basic conditions are met.
Regarding the salary of a specialist doctor 1, the Ministry of Health calculates the salary according to the professional title of a senior doctor (grade II), the professional title of a senior preventive medicine doctor (grade II) applies the salary coefficient of type A2 civil servants (group A2.1), from salary coefficient 4.40 to salary coefficient 6.78.
Thus, people with a medical specialist degree 1 will receive the same salary as civil servants of type A2, group A2.1, with a salary coefficient from 4.4 - 6.78, equivalent to a salary of 7,920,000 - 12,204,000 VND/month.
