3-level intersection in the East of Ho Chi Minh City is preparing to build an overpass

The My Thuy Intersection Project (Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) is preparing to enter phase 3 with the construction of the right branch overpass on Ring Road 2 and the right branch of Ky Ha 3 Bridge.


On March 13, information from Mr. Luong Minh Phuc, Director of the HCM City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board) said that the My Thuy intersection construction project (Thu Duc City, HCM City) is about to enter phase 3.

This is a key traffic project that contributes to solving traffic congestion, ensuring traffic order and safety on Nguyen Thi Dinh - Dong Van Cong and Ring Road 2 (now Vo Chi Cong). Especially the demand for transporting goods in and out of Cat Lai port cluster...

My Thuy Interchange has a complete design with a scale of 3-level intersection. Up to now, the project has completed a number of items in phase 1 and phase 2, put into operation from the beginning of 2019 to 2021 such as the left-turn underpass, a 4-lane overpass on Ring Road 2 and Ky Ha 3 Bridge - left branch, My Thuy 3 Bridge with 6 lanes located between My Thuy 1 Bridge and My Thuy 2 Bridge.

From the end of 2023 to present, the Traffic Department has also continued to urgently implement the construction of a number of items with handed over land, including the left-turn overpass from Cat Lai to Phu My and Ky Ha 4 bridge.

For phase 3, the overpass on Ring Road 2 - right branch and Ky Ha Bridge 3 - right branch with 4 lanes will start construction from March 14. It is expected that the entire My Thuy intersection will be completed by April 30, 2026.

"Along with completing phase 3 of the project, the Traffic Department will implement other projects such as expanding Nguyen Thi Dinh, Nguyen Duy Trinh, Luong Dinh Cua streets, Cat Lai - Phu Huu inter-port route, expanding Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, completing An Phu intersection, Tang Long bridge, Ong Nhieu...

The projects will contribute to ensuring traffic safety, solving traffic congestion in the Cat Lai port area and the eastern gateway of the city, meeting the demand for freight transport, improving the competitiveness of the Cat Lai - Phu Huu port cluster and increasing the level of safety and convenience in traveling for people around Thanh My Loi and Cat Lai wards. At the same time, urban beautification and creating momentum to promote urbanization for Thu Duc city and local socio-economic development," said Mr. Phuc.

The My Thuy Intersection has an initial investment of about VND 1,998 billion, approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council for investment and implementation in the period of 2016-2021. The project started in 2016 and has completed 6/10 items. However, from 2021, the project has been suspended due to site clearance problems. In 2022, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council approved, raising the total investment to VND 3,622 billion.
