On the morning of August 26, nearly 1.7 million students from primary to high school and vocational education in Ho Chi Minh City officially returned to school. Previously, from August 19, primary schools allowed first graders to return to school early.
Ms. Nguyen Thi My Hanh, Principal of Vo Truong Toan Secondary School (District 1), shared with 6th grade students about the differences in primary and secondary school lessons.
At Vo Truong Toan Secondary School (District 1), the first day of the new school year welcomed 312 6th grade students and there were many situations that made everyone laugh.
After the welcoming program for 6th graders, the students took souvenir photos with their homeroom teachers in the school yard and then went back to class. However, due to the large number of students and the fact that it was the first day of school after the summer break, many students forgot to bring their school bags.
Teachers and nannies have to go to each class to find and return lost items to their "owners". In many cases, the "owners" don't even realize that it's the bag they left behind.
Others mistakenly took the bag of their neighbor. It was only when the teacher opened the bag and read the name on the sticker that the "owner" was surprised.
The "owners" discovered they had mistakenly taken each other's pair.
Many "awkward" situations on the first day of school make everyone laugh
Another case at Nguyen Binh Khiem Primary School (District 1): Because she checked the wrong schedule, Ms. Huynh Nguyen Mai took her child to school late. However, in her haste, instead of taking her child to the primary school, Ms. Mai mistakenly took her child to the old kindergarten.
"I realized I had gone to the wrong school only halfway through. It was my child's first year in first grade, and I was still confused. Luckily, I was still able to get my child to school on time," Mai breathed a sigh of relief.
Students are brought to school by their parents and the impressive welcomes
In order not to create a sense of pressure for the students on the first day of meeting, Ms. Nguyen Thi Van, homeroom teacher of class 6.1 at Vo Truong Toan Secondary School, gave small gifts to her students. However, to receive the gifts, they had to go through a challenging step.
Specifically, each gift has the name of a random student, the main requirement is that the students must find the correct person whose name is on the gift to give it to.
According to Ms. Van, the gift not only helps students feel more excited on the first day of school, but is also a way for them to interact and get to know their classmates faster.

Similarly, at Nguyen Trung Truc Primary School (Thu Duc City), many parents brought their children to school very early. After saying goodbye to their parents at the school gate, students were assisted and guided to class by teachers. Some parents still stood outside the school gate watching their children.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuoc, Principal of Nguyen Trung Truc Primary School, said that this school year the school has more than 1,250 students of all grades, with an average class size of about 36-37 students per class.
The school meets 100% of students studying 2 sessions/day and organizes meals for boarding. Currently, all preparations for facilities and training for teachers have been completed, ready for the new school year.
