Faced with the enormous damage caused by storm No. 3 to provinces from Quang Ninh, Hai Phong... to now the massive floods in the northern mountainous provinces, with the responsibility of a state-owned enterprise to the community, VNPT Group has decided to deploy a special support package for people and customers affected by storms and floods with a total value of 50 billion VND, of which 25 billion VND in kind is contributed by VNPT staff, each contributing one day's salary and from VNPT's Social Policy Fund and 25 billion VND is the services VNPT provides to support people in flooded areas.
With the spirit of speed, VNPT aims to deploy this support package to the people within 10 days with the most practical forms of support to help local people quickly stabilize their lives.
During the most difficult time of Typhoon Yagi, VNPT still basically ensured communication for the government and people. During the past days, almost all of VNPT's employees were working hard to cope with the storm and floods. Thousands of VNPT employees in other provinces/cities are being sent to the affected areas to join hands in the rescue and quickly restore the network to serve the people and the government.
In localities, the telecommunications network in general was severely damaged by storm No. 3, VNPT also shared the network with other telecommunications enterprises. Up to now, nearly 550,000 mobile subscribers of other networks have used the VinaPhone network to maintain communication; during peak hours, the VinaPhone network in storm and flood areas simultaneously served nearly 300,000 mobile subscribers of other networks.
Hundreds of VNPT transaction points have supported the provision of electricity to charge phones for customers, and have opened their doors to serve and provide services from 7am to 10pm-11pm every day (and until all customers are gone) to support people.
VNPT has also quickly implemented a policy to support VinaPhone mobile packages and reduce fiber optic Internet subscription fees to share difficulties with customers in 16 northern provinces/cities directly affected by storm No. 3 and flash floods/landslides.
Up to now, more than 3.6 million VinaPhone subscribers have been supported with the package (including 100 minutes of domestic calls & 15Gb of Data) and nearly 600,000 fiber optic Internet subscribers have been supported with the subscription fee.
Sharing with VietNamNet on September 12, representatives of Viettel and MobiFone said that employees of these businesses have contributed a day's salary to support people in flood-affected areas.
MobiFone also donated 30,000 VND to subscribers in 22 provinces and cities so that people could contact each other after the storm and flood. Similarly, Viettel also donated money to accounts and data to subscribers in areas affected by the storm and flood.
In Lao Cai, Viettel Lao Cai also visited and provided more than 100 free Viettel SIM cards to people in landslide areas in Bao Yen, Lao Cai, and donated 100 million VND to support people in Lang Nu - a place where flash floods caused great damage to people and property.
Sharing about supporting people to overcome the consequences of storms and floods, Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh, Chairman of CMC said that within the framework of the program, responding to the Launching Ceremony to support people affected by storm Yagi and promoting the spirit of "mutual love", CMC joined hands to help affected localities.
Through the Central Relief Committee - Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, CMC has donated 500 million VND to support people in flood-affected areas.
FPT representative said that FPT Corporation is also coordinating with member units to urgently investigate and receive information about cases of employees severely affected by storms and floods to provide timely support.
At the same time, FPT will continue to take actions to share with the community to contribute to rebuilding life after natural disasters. With the spirit of joint efforts and sharing difficulties, FPT people are not only responsible for their teammates, but also do not forget to contribute to the community and society.
At 4pm this afternoon (September 12), 1,000 gifts of food and agricultural products from FPT will be delivered to people in Tuyen Quang who are suffering from floods and storms. These gifts will be distributed at relief locations at Long Chau Pharmacy 148 Binh Thuan, Tan Quang and FPT shop 168 Binh Thuan, Tan Quang.
In addition, to accompany people in flood-affected areas, Long Chau pharmacy will provide first aid and give free medicine to people in affected areas.
