Response plans for when storm No. 6 makes landfall have been carefully prepared by traffic contractors.
Regarding the response to storm No. 6, speaking with Giao Thong Newspaper, the leader of the XL1 package management board of the North-South expressway project, Bung - Van Ninh section (belonging to Cienco4 Group) said that from noon today (October 26), the project construction area began to have strong winds.
Cienco4 Group took full advantage of the favorable weather period before the storm to construct the Bung - Van Ninh expressway.
However, all construction teams from road and bridge foundation construction, embankment and embankment reinforcement are still making the most of the time without rain to work from early morning. "Late this afternoon, machinery has been gathered at a high location to avoid the impact of storms and rain," said a representative of Cienco4.
Also according to the leader of the XL1 package management board, implementing the direction of Project Management Board 6 (investor) and the group's leaders, at the site, the contractor has completed the storm and flood prevention apparatus to monitor and direct.
"The luckiest thing is that currently, Cienco4 has completed the construction of bridges across streams and large rivers, installing girders. Some bridges have been paved and installed with expansion joints, the contractor is only focusing on bringing machinery and equipment to a higher place and clearing the riverbed and streambed.
On the main route, the roadbed has been raised to the surface foundation. At the deep slope slope positions, we are speeding up the pouring of the main ditches, the top ditches, and clearing the longitudinal ditch system so that when it rains heavily, water can drain promptly.
During the rainy season, all engineers and workers will stay at the construction site to ensure that when the weather stabilizes, construction can restart immediately," said a representative of Cienco4 Group.
Constructing nearly 7km of the main line (including intersections) and 2.5km of connecting branch lines, Lieutenant Colonel Vo Van Ba, Executive Director (of Corporation 36) said that today, about 150 workers and more than 100 locomotives and equipment of the unit still took advantage of the little favorable time before the storm to maintain construction.
Up to now, the contractor has paved 3.5km of asphalt concrete and constructed 5km of crushed stone mixed with cement.
"Regarding the response to storm No. 6, in addition to the work of bracing the operating house area and workers' slope camp, the contractor also paid special attention to checking the embankment areas and covering the slope with tarpaulin to prevent landslides," Mr. Ba shared.
Protecting the slope construction area is given special attention by contractors in implementing flood response plans.
Undertaking the construction of nearly 50km of the main route of the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway project, a representative of Truong Thinh Group said that the contractor's storm response plan at the site has been basically completed, in particular, the living areas of engineers and workers have been firmly braced.
"Currently, there has been no rain in the project area, so more than 1,000 engineers and workers of Truong Thinh Group are still on site, constructing items as usual to increase production. At the end of today, all machinery and equipment will be gathered at a high location.
During the storm, the contractor's specialized department will be on duty regularly to ensure the flow is cleared and the construction site is safe," informed the leader of Truong Thinh Group.
Leading the joint venture of contractors for the North-South Expressway project, Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon section, Deo Ca Group has also promptly requested construction teams to deploy solutions to respond to storm No. 6.
At the project, contractors have reviewed construction sites, cleared drainage systems, bridge and culvert works; implemented measures to protect unreinforced negative slopes, and opened streams at temporary embankment locations to serve construction.
"Vehicles, machinery and equipment... are gathered in a high place with a good drainage system. For the Executive Office and the factory, the contractor has inspected, repaired and added additional bracing, increased screws, fixed the roof corners, added roof braces and sandbags.
Specialized forces are also deployed 24/7, maintaining adequate equipment operators on site, electricians and shock troops to promptly deploy evacuation or emergency response. As for tunnel construction, in non-complicated weather conditions, the contractor will still carry out construction as usual," said Mr. Ngo Truong Nam, General Director of Deo Ca Group.
Previously, in the dispatch directing response to storm No. 6, the Ministry of Transport requested the Department of Construction Investment Management to direct investors and contractors to immediately deploy storm response work, prepare conditions to promptly overcome construction incidents; coordinate to ensure smooth traffic on national highways and expressways under construction.
