This afternoon, March 25, in Hanoi, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in coordination with the Vietnam Journalists Association and Vietnam Television held a meeting of the Steering Committee (SC) and the Organizing Committee (OC) of the 5th National Press Award for Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness, and Negativity, 2024-2025.
Attending the meeting were: Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Central organizations, Vice President - General Secretary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Nguyen Thi Thu Ha - Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Award Steering Committee; Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Hoang Cong Thuy - Head of the Award Organizing Committee; Deputy General Director of Vietnam Television Do Duc Hoang - Deputy Head of the Award Steering Committee; Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department Phan Xuan Thuy; Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi.
Here, Deputy Head of the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Vu Dinh Long said that immediately after the meeting of the Steering Committee and the Organizing Committee of the Award in May 2024, the Propaganda Department urgently sent draft documents to the agencies coordinating the organization of the Award, each member of the Steering Committee and the Organizing Committee of the Award to ask for comments. From there, synthesize, absorb and finalize the issuance of the Plan between the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front with the Vietnam Journalists Association and Vietnam Television on organizing the fifth National Press Award on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity, 2024-2025; promulgate the Award Regulations; assign tasks to the Steering Committee of the fifth Award.
Following the progress of the Award, the Propaganda Department promptly advised the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to send official dispatches to agencies, units, localities, and press agencies nationwide requesting to propagate, introduce, and actively respond to participate in the fifth Award. At the same time, advising the Award Steering Committee, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front issued a Decision to change the name of the "National Press Award for preventing and combating corruption and negativity" to "National Press Award for preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negativity".
Up to now, the Standing Committees of provincial and municipal Party Committees, Party Committees directly under the Central Committee, ministries, departments, branches at the Central Committee, provinces, cities, member organizations of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, provincial and municipal Committees of the Vietnam Fatherland Front have sent official dispatches to press agencies requesting them to actively promote and respond to participate in the fifth National Press Award on preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negativity.
At the meeting, members of the Steering Committee and the Organizing Committee gave their opinions on the progress report of the Tournament, especially the key tasks in the coming time and recommendations and proposals to the agencies coordinating the Tournament organization.
Many opinions suggested that the Steering Committee and the Organizing Committee of the Award continue to strengthen the information and propaganda work about the Award on the news agencies and newspapers of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the press agencies of the Central and local levels to create interest and attract the attention of a large number of press agencies, reporters, journalists, and collaborators to write articles and send works to participate in the Award.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice President and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thi Thu Ha affirmed that, after 4 times of organization, the National Press Award on anti-corruption and negativity has received the attention of press agencies and journalists nationwide and the support of the majority of the people. In particular, it promotes and strongly encourages the role of the press and the people in accompanying the Party and State in the cause of Party building and rectification, preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity in the current period.
Emphasizing the breakthrough directions of the Politburo and the Secretariat, headed by General Secretary To Lam, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha said that the Politburo established 19 inspection teams for Party committees, provincial and municipal Party committees directly under the Central Committee in the leadership, direction and organization of the implementation of newly issued Resolutions and Conclusions of the Politburo and the Secretariat. Therefore, the implementation of this Award needs to be groundbreaking, with innovation in the methods and ways of implementation, in order to create the spread and depth of the Award, especially the series of articles reflecting wasteful content.
“Based on the functions, tasks, and noble mission of this Press Award, the Front system needs to promote its role in consultation and unifying actions for social monitoring and criticism programs in localities, creating a foundation and premise for journalists to exploit and have outstanding articles reflecting issues of corruption, waste, and negativity at the grassroots level,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha suggested.
The Vice President and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front stated that, based on the content of Conclusions 126-KL/TW and 127-KL/TW of the Politburo and the Secretariat, the Party Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Central mass organizations are continuing to review the functions and tasks of the press agencies in the bloc to improve and promote the effectiveness of the agencies' operations. This is also an opportunity for the press agencies in the bloc to step up propaganda and have outstanding articles participating in the Awards.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha also expressed her hope that the Vietnam Journalists Association and Vietnam Television will continue to coordinate to promote the dissemination of the Award's rules and submission deadlines, so that the 5th National Press Award for Anti-Corruption, Waste and Negativity will be a great success, thereby contributing to pushing back corruption, waste and negativity, and making positive contributions to the cause of national construction and development.
