(NLDO) – Each tael of SJC gold bar continued to increase this morning, reaching the 89 million VND mark as the world price remained at a new peak.
On the morning of February 1 (the 4th day of Tet), the price of SJC gold bars was bought by some businesses in Ho Chi Minh City at 86.8 million VND/tael and sold at 88.5 million VND/tael, an increase of 200,000 VND/tael compared to yesterday.
Some gold shops sell at lower prices, around VND88.3 million/tael. The gold market mainly fluctuates in price, transaction demand increases but the scale is not large because many commercial banks and large gold companies are closed for Tet.
The price of 99.99 gold rings and jewelry gold increased more strongly. Mi Hong Company resumed trading after the Tet holiday and pushed the price of gold rings to jump, equal to the price of gold bars to 86.7 million VND/tael for buying, 88.5 million VND/tael for selling, an increase of about 1.4 million VND/tael compared to yesterday. Some other units sold at a lower price, around 87.7 million VND/tael for selling. The price of gold rings has a difference between brands and business units.
Domestic gold prices continued to jump following the world's upward trend. In particular, the price of gold rings increased more strongly than the price of SJC gold bars when people's demand for physical gold increased during Tet.
In the international market, the price of gold today reached an all-time high when it surpassed the 2,800 USD/ounce mark. At one point, the world gold price reached 2,820 USD/ounce, an increase of 20 USD/ounce compared to the previous session. This is the highest mark in history for the precious metal, far surpassing the peak of 2,790 USD/ounce set in October 2024.
The sharp increase in gold prices today surprised many investors. Gold prices had been on a streak of consecutive increases for many weeks before that.
Not only gold, the USD also fluctuated in the same direction and rose strongly, surpassing 108.3 points, up 0.68% compared to the previous session.
Gold and USD prices rose as investors sought safety from US President Donald Trump's tariff threat, raising concerns about global economic growth and inflationary pressures.
Currently, the world gold price converted according to the listed exchange rate is about 85.4 million VND/tael.
