Join hands to build and protect the Fatherland's borders
Along with the vibrant activities of the youth across the country, March is an opportunity for union members and young people to express their love for their homeland by heading to border areas.
At the beginning of the 2024 Border March, it is a coincidence that generations of union members and young people across the country are enthusiastically launching projects, tasks, and taking the initiative for community life during the Youth March. The key areas identified are difficult areas, remote areas, border areas, and islands.
Mr. Nguyen Kim Quy - Permanent Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union - said that this year's Border March program was designed with the spirit of "Vietnamese youth taking action for the Fatherland's borders", and is one of the activities to concretize the movement "I love my Fatherland".
Gifts to people and children in border areas
Thanh and his grandmother live in a dilapidated thatched house with bamboo walls, which has just been built as a Happy House by the Border March program.
His father died of cancer, when Thanh was 2 years old, his mother left. Over the past years, Vieng Van Thanh (a 3rd grader in Tam Quang commune, Tuong Duong district, Nghe An) and his grandmother have lived in a dilapidated thatched house with bamboo walls that could collapse at any time during storms.
Knowing Thanh's situation, the Border March program brought joy to him with the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the "Happy House". In particular, Thanh also received sponsorship support until he was 18 years old.
Attending the groundbreaking ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Bui Quang Tuan - Chief of Tam Quang Border Guard Station (Nghe An) - said that officers, soldiers and local authorities will support labor and help the house to be completed soon.
The working group also held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Happiness Bridge for the people of Mac village (Thach Giam town, Tuong Duong district) worth 450 million VND. The village has a large river and stream system, so every time there is a flood at the overflow bridge, the flood water flows back, causing separation and isolation, making it difficult for people and students to travel.
So in the near future, people in Mac village will happily await the Happiness Bridge, to make traveling less difficult, especially during rainy and flood days.
Bicycles were donated to students at the border.
Mountain students get to use the new computer room.
At Tuong Duong Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, the organizing committee inaugurated the "Computer room for children" and presented warm clothes to the students in the school.
Within the framework of the March Border Month program, border guards, along with union members and youth, also organized propaganda activities about the Vietnam Border Law to students at Tuong Duong 2 High School.
3 main groups of activities of the Border March
From the first point of contact, the program has spread strongly to all regions with three main groups of activities. That is to promote propaganda and education for union members, youth about tradition, love for the homeland and responsibility for sovereignty, border security, and islands in the new situation.
Along with that are a group of activities to show gratitude, exchange, visit veterans, officers and soldiers of the border guards and activities to foster professional knowledge for youth volunteer teams and groups to ensure security and order in border areas.
Finally, there is the group of social security activities and undertaking youth projects and tasks associated with the task of maintaining national security and defense, and socio-economic development in border provinces.
