These days, Dien Bien is in the season of white Bauhinia flowers blooming. Everywhere you look, you can see joyful smiles, because right on this land, our army and people achieved the Dien Bien Phu victory that was famous in five continents and shook the world. For the poor people in Dien Bien, that joy is multiplied when living in the solidarity and love of the people of the whole country.

Mr. Giang Vang Sinh (Hua Ngai commune, Muong Cha district) was moved when his new, spacious house was completed. More importantly, his dream house was built according to the Mong people's architecture. Mr. Sinh confided: "When we learned that our family was on the list of people receiving support to build a new Great Unity house, my children and I designed the house ourselves on the ground with columns according to the Mong people's tradition. My family is very happy. We have long wanted to have a solid roof but could not fulfill it. We thank the Party, the State and the Front very much."

Meanwhile, Mr. Lo Van Mang’s family (Mo village, Noong Het commune, Dien Bien district) is busy completing the final tasks for their new house. Household items are also neatly arranged in each place. Mr. Mang’s family is also one of the households receiving help from businesses and benefactors.

Mr. Mang said, thanks to the care and support of the Party and the State, his family was able to build a new, more solid and spacious house. From now on, his family can work with peace of mind to gradually stabilize their lives and escape poverty.

Like Mr. Sinh and Mr. Mang’s families, many other poor and near-poor households have also been supported to build Great Solidarity Houses in districts and cities. Typically, in Muong Cha district, nearly 580 households in 12 communes and towns have received support. Up to this point, the households have basically completed their dream houses.

To ensure the set progress, the Party Committee, government, and Fatherland Front at all levels in Muong Cha district have strengthened propaganda, inspection, and supervision. From there, difficulties and obstacles in the implementation process in the locality have been promptly resolved.

Mr. Ly A Giang - Vice Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Muong Cha district said that before the recent Giap Thin Lunar New Year, many households had finished and celebrated Tet in their new houses. The remaining households completed their houses right after Tet. All of those houses were built according to the motto "The Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the province and district mobilized financial support, the people organized to build houses in Great Unity" and the principle "Community helps, households build their own houses".

Thanks to that, families have saved maximum construction costs. Accordingly, the completed houses all ensure standards and quality according to the 3 hard requirements: hard roof, hard wall and hard floor.

In Nam Po district, according to the assessment of the Steering Committee for building Great Unity houses for poor households in the district, most of the Great Unity houses have been completed. The newly built houses are all larger and more beautiful than the old ones.

Mr. Tran Van Hien - Vice Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Nam Po district said that in the past time, we have focused on reviewing to accurately identify households that are eligible for support in building houses. In addition, the district has also established a Steering Committee and assigned members including members of the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee to directly take charge of each commune and village and mobilized other forces such as the police and army to coordinate and support people during the construction process.

The goal of supporting the construction of nearly 600 Great Solidarity houses for poor and near-poor households has been completed by the district according to the set plan. The above results were achieved thanks to the participation of Party committees and authorities at all levels, the initiative of households, the consensus and joint efforts of the community and people in the village, so the houses were soon completed and put into use.

Sharing the achievements in building temporary and dilapidated houses for the poor, Mr. Lo Van Mung - Head of the Mass Mobilization Committee, Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Dien Bien province said that with the project to eliminate 5,000 houses for poor and near-poor households in Dien Bien province on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, the province has so far completed 100% of the target despite the difficulties in the implementation process due to the rugged mountainous terrain. When implementing this project, Dien Bien province quickly reviewed the number of houses in need of support with the motto of State support and people working together.

In particular, people can decide on the house model that suits their tradition with a minimum support of 50 million VND/house. Therefore, the Project received high consensus among the people, so in just 9 months, the whole province completed 5,000 houses with the capital needed to mobilize 250 billion VND.

“The implementation of the project to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for the poor has involved close coordination between the government, the Fatherland Front and mass organizations from the province, district, commune to villages and residential groups to urge, inspect and supervise regularly. Therefore, the construction was carried out on schedule; all houses were of guaranteed quality upon completion,” Mr. Mung shared.
