The heat is likely to gradually decrease from around May 1-2 in the North and Central regions; from around May 4-5 in the Central Highlands and the South.
Warning level of natural disaster risk due to heat: level 1; in Son La, Hoa Binh and from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen, level 2.
Due to the effects of intense and especially intense heat combined with low humidity, there is a risk of explosions and fires in residential areas due to increased demand for electricity and the risk of forest fires. In addition, heat can also cause dehydration, exhaustion, and heat stroke in the human body when exposed to high temperatures for a long time.
Note : The predicted temperature in the heat bulletin and the actual felt temperature outside can differ by 2-4 degrees, or even higher depending on the surface conditions such as concrete and asphalt.
The heat is particularly intense across the country, will the temperature record be broken?
Previously, in response to the Health and Life newspaper, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Huy, a climate change and natural disaster warning expert, said that for three consecutive days, April 28, 29 and 30, there will be extremely hot weather across the country. It is forecasted that in these three consecutive days, previous temperature records will be broken. In particular, for the first time, our country can record a temperature measured in a meteorological tent of up to 45 degrees Celsius on April 30.
Experts recommend that the forecast temperature above is meteorological temperature. The actual temperature outside the environment may be higher or lower depending on the type of environment. For example, in the shade of trees, the temperature may be 3-4 degrees Celsius lower, while outdoors in urban areas lacking trees can reach 48-50 degrees Celsius.
This heat wave is both extreme in intensity and long lasting, so the heat accumulated in the last days of the heat wave makes the air stuffy. The elderly and children should absolutely not go outside between 11am and 4pm in places where the temperature is higher than 43 degrees Celsius. Humans have a limited tolerance for heat while we have never experienced this temperature record, so we need to be careful and adapt gradually.
Everyone should remember to use water and electricity sparingly. Houses with multiple air conditioners should only turn on one for the whole family to use together, both to save electricity and to reduce the risk of overloading the power transmission line.
Actual temperature measured at 1:00 p.m. on April 28, 2024
