The first live show in her life called "Sol's Dream" was just successfully held outdoors with 2000 spectators, once again affirming Giang Son's position in the country's music scene as she is a rare female musician today who composes both songs and instrumental music.

The musician's full name is Ta Thi Giang Son, born in 1975. Having been exposed to the arts since childhood, Giang Son soon showed her talent for singing and composing. In 1998, she and singer Lan Huong founded the band Exotica and won the Outstanding Young Composer award at the National Student Band Festival in 1999. At the end of 1999, Giang Son and Lan Huong founded the band Du Ca, consisting of three other members: Bao Lan, Thuy Linh, and Hong Ngoc. The group later changed its name to Nam Dong Ke. In 2003, Nam Dong Ke released the album "Em" with most of Giang Son's compositions.

Giang Son's name became widely known as a musician when the song "Giac Mo Noon" was voted Song of the Month and she personally won the Impressive Musician award at Bai Hat Viet 2005. In 2007, Giang Son released her first studio album Giang Son, which was nominated for the Dedication Award. In 2010, Giang Son was the only female musician honored at the Music Road program produced by Vietnam Television. In 2015, Giang Son made a breakthrough in her career when collaborating with Ha Tran and Tung Duong to release the album Bong toi Jazz - a music album that helped her win the Album of the Year award at the Dedication Award. In 2023, she released her third album Sing My Sol with songs composed and performed by herself.

In the first large-scale live show "Sol Dream" introducing his works in the middle of February, Giang Son talked about the musical harmony with the audience: "I only know how to write and express my sadness in songs, but I didn't expect many audiences to listen and understand. Maybe they also experience similar emotions to me. That's something I couldn't imagine."

The musician said that the song "Giac Mo Muang", about short-lived happiness, co-composed by her and musician Nguyen Vinh Tien, seemed to have been reflected in their lives. Giang Son had a broken marriage and Nguyen Vinh Tien had been through two marriages. Currently, Giang Son has no intention of getting married a second time. She often jokes when her friends urge her to get married: "I don't dare to hold a wedding because I'm afraid of having to return the congratulatory gifts to those who attended the first wedding."

The first time she held an outdoor concert, the musician was worried because it was drizzling. When it was time to perform, she was moved to tears when she saw nearly 2,000 people present: "I just stood backstage, worried whether the audience would come or not. This is the first time I have a live show, with my own songs, I can stand here and confide in everyone. I have never been so happy."

The live show, titled “Sol Dream”, recreates Giang Son’s nearly 40-year journey of composing music. As the youngest child of Cheo artist Hoang Kieu - Bich Ngoc, when she was young, she thought she would become a folk singer like her mother. However, her father oriented her to study piano. At the age of 8, she passed the intermediate piano course and at the age of 10, she wrote her first instrumental song for her father.

At the age of 16, from his first love, Giang Son wrote 30 songs.

Sharing about the name of the Live concert, musician Giang Son said: “Sol Dream” was inspired by the title of the song “Midday Dream” that she composed exactly 20 years ago, and is also a “variation” of her own name - which means the Sol note in music. That is Giang Son’s dream, a dream about music, to roam freely, to explore, to experiment, with the musical styles that she loves such as Pop, contemporary folk, chamber music, Jazz, Blue, even Rock…

“Sol Dream” is also a dream about a Live concert with his name, of himself that Giang Son has cherished for a long time. “It is a true Live concert about my music, introducing to everyone the spiritual children that I have cherished for so long, that I am devoted to, that I am passionate about. An outdoor music night in a large space of about 2,000 people - it is truly a dream that I have wished for and pondered for many years”, Giang Son shared.

That dream was probably ignited when Giang Son was just a 10-year-old girl, composing her first song for her father. In 2010, when Vietnam Television produced the Liveshow Con duong am nhac, recreating Giang Son's portrait through music, that dream was further fueled. But that fire has only been burning silently for many years, because holding a Live concert is not an easy task, including the financial factor.

“Fate helped me meet producer Thien Binh of Phieu Du Show. When she offered to do a Live concert for me, I was very happy and immediately accepted,” musician Giang Son revealed.

In “Sol Dream”, Giang Son’s 40-year musical journey is recreated through her compositions. There are works that she wrote in her early twenties, when she first started her career as a composer, when – according to Giang Son herself, “she may still be influenced by senior musicians somewhere, but with a very pure soul, very naive with music” with simple, innocent melodies. These are songs that were born when Giang Son grew up, starting to combine with folk music such as “Midday Dream”; or starting to explore and experiment through songs written in the Blues Jazz style such as “Grass and Rain”, “Thu Can”…

The program introduces 26 songs, old and new compositions of Giang Son. Her music spans many genres, from pop to rock, jazz, classical, but all have in common the feminine, lyrical, and folk elements.

Khanh Linh, Thuy Chi, Hoang Dung performed a series of love songs “Late Sun”, “Day Just Blinked”, “Touch”; Thanh Lam, Tung Duong sang “Khất”, “Dem nay ta muon tinh tu”. Ha Tran performed the song “Co va mua” (based on Nguyen Trong Tao’s poem), in an acapella version and a version sung with the orchestra.

One of the performances that the audience loved was Giang Son playing the guitar and singing “Giac Mo Muang”. In the following part, she accompanied Khanh Linh and Thuy Chi in a duet. 20 years ago, Khanh Linh was the first person to perform “Giac Mo Muang”. Later, Thuy Chi posted another version online, which was loved by the audience.

Music critic Nguyen Quang Long - one of the show's viewers - commented that the crew created surprises when they renewed Giang Son's songs: "I often imagine Son's music as feminine and shy, but the performances in the show were explosive, innovative, and suitable for outdoor music spaces. The concert was successful thanks to the harmony between many elements in terms of content and form. The performing artists are all people who are close to Giang Son, so they understand her music well."

Along with composing, Giang Son also holds the position of judge and coach in many competitions and music programs such as: Sao Mai Diem Hen, Do Re Mi, Good Voice of Hanoi, Hanoi Singing Voice, Best Song, Amazing Music, DJ Stars...

Currently, Giang Son is a member of the Executive Committee of the Hanoi Music Association, a member of the Vietnam Musicians Association, a member of the World Composers Association of the 21st Century (Composers 21) and currently works at the Vietnam Musicians Association.
