Through strengthening linkages, the agricultural extension sector of Tay Ninh province is overcoming limitations and improving the competitiveness of Tay Ninh's rice industry.
Overcoming limitations in rice production
Tay Ninh is one of the localities with the largest rice growing area in the Southeast region with a total cultivated area of about 150,000 hectares, producing 3 crops per year.
However, in the past, the economic value that the rice industry brought was not commensurate with its potential. The reason was that the production method was still fragmented, farmers mainly sold fresh rice to traders, causing profits to be shared through many intermediaries.
According to the Tay Ninh Provincial Agricultural Extension Center, local rice seed production still faces many limitations. The scale of rice cultivation is unevenly distributed among regions, causing difficulties in transporting and consuming products.

In order to improve the competitiveness of the rice industry, the province has focused on implementing a production and consumption chain. Accordingly, the Agricultural Extension Center plays a major role in transforming the seed structure, providing technical support and creating favorable conditions for cooperatives and farmers.
Since 2008, Tay Ninh has implemented a large-scale field model and piloted a four-house linkage. These are solutions to overcome the situation of small-scale production and dependence on traders.
According to statistics, the area along the Vam Co Dong River alone has more than 40,000 hectares of rice cultivation. Some localities such as Hung Thuan Commune and Phuoc Chi Commune (Trang Bang Town) have formed cooperatives with rice cultivation scale of hundreds of hectares. Most cooperatives have mechanized over 90% to produce high-quality rice varieties.
Mr. Cao Van Tha - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Phuoc Binh Agricultural Service Cooperative (Phuoc Chi Commune) said that the Cooperative has a total rice area of over 274 hectares. Thanks to its good role in organizing production and linking with businesses, the Cooperative has helped people feel secure in production, gradually transforming from small-scale models to concentrated commodity production, improving economic efficiency.

Mr. Tha proposed that the authorities should continue to support investment in the planning area for specialty rice production, and at the same time call on businesses to join in cooperation and purchase products according to high quality standards.
Promoting linkage in rice production and consumption
In order to sustainably develop the rice industry, many enterprises in Tay Ninh have joined the production chain, bringing significant benefits to farmers. Mr. Ho Thai Son - Director of VIETFARM Agricultural Products Import-Export Company Limited said that the enterprise has linked with cooperatives to produce safe rice on an area of over 700 hectares. In 2025, VIETFARM aims to expand the linked area to over 2,000 hectares, thereby improving product quality and ensuring stable output.
Besides, Duc Thanh Company Limited with Lua Vang Viet rice factory - one of the large-scale factories in Tay Ninh - is also promoting the chain of links.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh - Deputy Director of the Company, since May 2022, the enterprise has implemented a project to support farmers in producing, milling and consuming rice according to VietGAP standards. More than 580 farming households with a cultivation area of over 2,000 hectares have been supported with input materials of an average of 3 million VND/ha. At the same time, the company is committed to purchasing products at market prices and transferring advanced farming techniques.
This linkage model has helped many farmers feel secure in production. Mr. Le Van Ben, a member of the linkage chain in Long Chu commune (Ben Cau district) shared that since joining the model, he no longer worries about capital investment in production.
In addition to equipping sprayers, seeders, plows and combine harvesters, he also boldly invested in a drone worth nearly 500 million VND to serve his family's nearly 10-hectare field and support members of the association.

According to Mr. Ben, using drones helps reduce costs from 700,000 VND to 1 million VND/ha/crop; at the same time, ensuring more stable productivity and output compared to traditional farming methods.
According to the Tay Ninh Provincial Agricultural Extension Center, the province currently has 30 collective economic organizations participating in rice production, with a total area of nearly 3,500 hectares. Thanks to these linkage models, farmers have gradually overcome the fragmented production situation, while simultaneously applying rice varieties suitable to local conditions.
Mr. Ha Thanh Tung - Director of Tay Ninh Province Agricultural Extension Center said that cooperatives have a role in mobilizing farmers to form large-scale fields, while enterprises support by applying scientific and technological advances, mechanizing production, purchasing and consuming products and building brands. "This is a sustainable direction to help improve productivity, quality and value of Tay Ninh's rice industry in the future," Mr. Tung shared.
