Leaders of Hanoi Agricultural Extension Center inspected the Agricultural Extension model after storm No. 3 in Phuc Tho district. |
(PLVN) - In the first 9 months of 2024, the Hanoi Agricultural Extension Center has made its mark with many important achievements in developing sustainable agricultural models. From the application of high technology, production according to VietGAP standards, to linking product consumption, the models of cultivation, livestock and aquaculture not only help increase productivity but also create a solid foundation for the development of the capital's agriculture.
Successfully implemented 18 agricultural extension models
According to the Agricultural Extension Center (Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development), in the first 9 months of 2024, the unit has successfully built and deployed 18 agricultural extension models, including 10 models on cultivation, 4 models on livestock and 4 models on aquaculture. These models focus on key areas such as: developing organic vegetable, flower and fruit production, VietGAP, applying high technology, granting certificates; Developing production linkages associated with product consumption; Developing mechanization; Cage aquaculture...
In the field of cultivation, the Hanoi Agricultural Extension Center has implemented 8 models. Of which, the model of producing high-quality rice according to VietGAP associated with product consumption, with a scale of 100 hectares, has produced certain results. In particular, the Spring crop has successfully applied over 50 hectares with TBR225 and HD11 rice varieties. Thanks to being cared for according to the correct technical process, the rice plants grow well, have few pests and diseases, and yield from 60 - 69.4 quintals/ha, 10 - 20% higher than the traditional method. All products have been purchased by enterprises at prices from 7,000 - 7,800 VND/kg of fresh rice, helping farmers increase income and stabilize output.
The model of producing rice seedlings in trays and transplanting rice by machine was also deployed on an area of 170 hectares in 2 crops. The spring crop with 85 hectares yielded 61 - 68.6 quintals/ha, 10% higher than the traditional planting method. This model not only helps to free up labor but also ensures efficient production, saves costs and increases economic value.
In addition, the intensive grapefruit farming model according to VietGAP standards on an area of 19.7 hectares has also achieved many successes. Despite being affected by storm No. 3, grapefruit trees still grow well, with large, even fruits, ensuring quality, and are expected to be harvested from November to December 2024.
In addition, the model of growing new lotus varieties and the model of industrial mushroom production also achieved many encouraging results. Despite being affected by the weather, some model locations still yielded good harvests, such as the lotus model in Thach That with 6 tons of fresh lotus seeds and 20,000 lotus flowers. The mushroom production model also brought about clear economic efficiency, with 19,800 kg of fresh mushrooms harvested in 33 days from 30 tons of raw materials.
Regarding livestock, the model of breeding cows has been successfully implemented with a scale of 170 Zebu cows and crossbreds. After more than 1 year of implementation, the herd of cows has grown well, with a survival rate of 100%, an estrus rate of over 90%, of which 100 have been confirmed to be pregnant. Similarly, the model of raising colored chickens according to VietGAP standards with 15,000 crossbred Mia chickens has helped improve productivity and meat quality, ensuring the health of the chickens and making them ready to supply to the market.
In the field of aquaculture, the Center has implemented 4 models, including raising V1 carp and tilapia according to VietGAP on an area of 25 hectares. The fish are healthy, grow well, with a weight of 640-660 grams/fish. Models such as rice-fish farming, cage aquaculture and specialty fish farming have all brought positive results, ensuring high economic efficiency for farmers.
Efforts to overcome difficulties, towards sustainable agricultural development
Despite many achievements in the first 9 months of the year, the Hanoi Agricultural Extension Center still faces many difficulties, mainly due to the impact of the weather. Storm No. 3 and its circulation caused heavy rain, seriously affecting crop and livestock models. Many areas of the Summer-Autumn rice crop and grapefruit gardens were damaged, reducing the expected yield.

Particularly in the lotus production model in My Duc, many model points have been severely damaged due to prolonged rain and floods, causing waterlogging and stem rot, making the plants unable to grow, and lotus in the harvest stage cannot be harvested anymore, especially the model point in My Duc. The vegetable production model according to VietGAP also encountered many obstacles when some areas of green onions and Dong Du cabbage were flooded, causing great damage to productivity and product quality.
Faced with these difficulties, the Hanoi Agricultural Extension Center has planned to implement remedial measures, from sowing seeds to produce in time when the weather is favorable, replanting medicinal plants, taking care of damaged areas, and adjusting production processes to suit actual conditions.
In the coming time, the Center will focus on evaluating and summarizing the remaining models, continuing to support models such as: Continuing to implement the 2024-2025 Reproductive Cow Breeding model with a scale of 40 cows; Providing support for breeds and materials from the beginning of October 2024 for the Commercial Pig Breeding model...
In addition, we continue to cooperate with international organizations such as the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to improve the agricultural production value chain in Hanoi. In the first 9 months of the year, the Center has coordinated with JICA to organize many training courses on VietGAP and market surveys for cooperatives, thereby improving production methods and product consumption.
