Lieutenant General To An Xo, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Security, confirmed to VietNamNet on the evening of January 16: The Ho Chi Minh City Police Department's Security Investigation Agency initiated a case and prosecuted Nguyen Cong Khe and Nguyen Quang Thong for the crime of "Violating regulations on management and use of state assets, causing loss and waste".
The temporary detention of Mr. Nguyen Cong Khe and Mr. Nguyen Quang Thong took place when the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department of Security Investigation investigated the case of "Violating regulations on management and use of State assets causing waste and loss".
The investigation process so far has determined that: Nguyen Cong Khe - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Thanh Nien Media Corporation, former Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper and Nguyen Quang Thong - former Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper, committed many violations in the process of implementing the project of office building, commercial center and luxury apartments at Land plot No. 151 - 155 Ben Van Don, Ward 6, District 4, Ho Chi Minh City.
Based on the investigation results, on January 16, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department issued a decision to prosecute, arrest and search the residence and workplace of Nguyen Cong Khe and Nguyen Quang Thong. The Ho Chi Minh City People's Procuracy approved the above decisions and orders.
The case is being urgently expanded by the Ho Chi Minh City Police Security Investigation Agency to clarify violations and responsibilities of other related individuals and organizations, and recover assets for the State.
