Dustin Cheverier (born 1988, from the US) is one of the famous content creators in Vietnam with a personal YouTube channel with more than 827,000 followers.

He has lived in Ho Chi Minh City for about 10 years and regularly shares videos of his travel and culinary experiences in many provinces from the South to the North.

During his cross-country cycling journey from Hanoi back to Ho Chi Minh City a few months ago, when traveling from Tan Lac district (Hoa Binh province) to Son village (Lung Cao commune, Ba Thuoc district, Thanh Hoa province), Dustin accidentally met two local people harvesting bee pupae.

They are brothers in a Thai family.

Seeing Dustin, the two enthusiastically chatted, asked questions and even invited the Western guest to come to their house to experience life in the place known as "Da Lat in the heart of Thanh Hoa" or "miniature Sa Pa of Thanh Hoa".

According to the National Tourism Administration's Electronic Information Portal, Son - Ba - Muoi are three highland villages that still retain their wild beauty in the core area of Pu Luong Nature Reserve (Thanh Hoa).

These are also the three highest villages of Lung Cao commune, located at an altitude of about 1,180m above sea level and are often called Cao Son area. Therefore, the air in these villages is very fresh, cool, even a bit chilly and has the scent of flowers and forest leaves.

The elderly woman in the house enthusiastically taught the Western guest simple sentences in the Thai ethnic language.

At the local's house, Dustin asked the host for permission to tour the surrounding area.

He was quite impressed with the fresh, green atmosphere here, along with the typical stilt houses of the Thai ethnic people.

The Western visitor admitted that the daily life of the local people is very simple, plain, and even lacking in amenities.

However, he felt satisfied and easily adapted because he was too familiar with such things since he started experiencing the adventurous journey across Vietnam.

Dustin was touched by the warm hospitality from a Thai family in Thanh Hoa with a meal of many delicious local dishes.

At the Thai family's house, Dustin was invited to a sumptuous meal with many local delicacies such as black chicken, bitter melon stir-fried with eggs, boiled peanuts, bamboo shoots, fried grasshoppers, and bee pupae.

They even prepared white sticky rice and boiled duck to treat him.

To thank the host for his hospitality, the American YouTuber also bought 10 cans of beer to join in the fun and enjoyed a warm meal with the family members.

“The food was delicious, thank you so much,” Dustin said.

After finishing the meal in the late afternoon, the Western guest was also taken by the host to experience fishing not far from the house, then returned to rest and regain strength.

“I will sleep here tonight and then continue my journey,” he said.
