Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee said it has submitted a report to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requesting appraisal of the project to preserve and reinforce the Hon Vong Phu relic. This relic belongs to the An Hoach Mountain (Nhio Mountain) Artistic Relic and Scenic Area, An Hung Ward, Thanh Hoa City.

Planned spending of 17 billion VND to preserve and reinforce Hon Vong Phu relic

Hon Vong Phu scenic spot.

Hon Vong Phu is made of limestone, which has weathered and cracked over a long period of time. Recent survey results show that in this area there are layers of soil remnants, slopes and many thick, broken rocks on the surface, proving that the weathering process is strong.

The site has also been struck by lightning twice and has been affected by quarrying and blasting activities in the surrounding area, causing vibrations that have widened the cracks. Therefore, even small impacts such as heavy rain, strong winds, earthquakes or blasts can seriously affect the safety of the site, even leading to the risk of collapse.

The reinforcement project aims to ensure the sustainability of Hon Vong Phu by using technical solutions to increase its hardness, stability and resistance to weather and environmental impacts. According to the report of the Provincial People's Committee, the project cost is 17 billion VND from the provincial budget, expected to be completed before April 30, 2025.

Previously, in October 2023, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa organized a scientific workshop to assess the current situation and propose solutions to preserve the Hon Vong Phu scenic relic. In January 2024, the Provincial People's Committee issued an official dispatch on the implementation of a lightning protection project for this relic; the project was implemented by Thanh Hoa City in May 2024.
