Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee said it has submitted a report to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requesting appraisal of the project to preserve and reinforce the Hon Vong Phu relic. This relic belongs to the An Hoach Mountain (Nhio Mountain) Artistic Relic and Scenic Area, An Hung Ward, Thanh Hoa City.
Hon Vong Phu scenic spot.
Hon Vong Phu is made of limestone, which has weathered and cracked over a long period of time. Recent survey results show that in this area there are layers of soil remnants, slopes and many thick, broken rocks on the surface, proving that the weathering process is strong.
The site has also been struck by lightning twice and is affected by quarrying and blasting activities around it, causing vibrations that have widened the cracks. Therefore, even small impacts such as heavy rain, strong winds, earthquakes or blasting can seriously affect the safety of the site, even leading to the risk of collapse.
The reinforcement project aims to ensure the sustainability of Hon Vong Phu by using technical solutions to increase hardness, stability and resistance to weather and environmental impacts.
Previously, in October 2023, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa organized a scientific workshop to assess the current situation and propose solutions to preserve the Hon Vong Phu scenic relic. In January 2024, the Provincial People's Committee issued an official dispatch on the implementation of a lightning protection project for this relic; the project was implemented by Thanh Hoa City in May 2024.
