On the morning of July 28, the Office of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province said that in order to speed up the procedures for implementing activities to promote the opening of new air routes in Hue, the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province has just issued a plan to promote the opening of air routes from Hue to tourist centers of Vietnam and the East Asia and Southeast Asia regions.

Accordingly, Thua Thien Hue province strives to open 1 international route and charter flights in the period of 2024 - 2025; promote the exploitation capacity of 5 million passengers/year at Terminal T2 - Phu Bai International Airport; at the same time, meet the increasing demand for air transport, especially serving major events held in Hue or peak tourist periods.
According to the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province, the plan aims to expand the flight network to connect with cities and countries without direct flights; strengthen the connection between Hue and economic, tourism and cultural centers; attract tourists from new markets, increase tourism revenue and develop related service industries; create favorable conditions for international and domestic tourists to come to Hue.
In addition, it aims to meet the travel needs of people and businesses, especially in areas with rapid development or high demand for air transport; facilitate business, trade, and tourism activities, thereby promoting local and national economic growth.
To achieve the above objectives, the plan will implement key tasks such as: organizing market research surveys to determine passenger and business needs; analyzing and evaluating potential passenger volume, tourism trends, and freight transport needs; determining flight routes based on market research and profitability.
To implement the plan, the locality also needs to develop a detailed plan for opening new routes, including schedules, flight frequencies and accompanying services; determine market access strategies and promotional campaigns to attract passengers; deploy promotional campaigns through multiple media channels to introduce new routes and develop promotional and incentive programs to attract passengers.

Phu Bai T2 Passenger Terminal - Phu Bai International Airport has a capacity of 5 million passengers/year (1 million international passengers and 4 million domestic passengers), with a total investment of nearly 2,300 billion VND, along with the project to expand the aircraft parking lot phase 1 with a total investment of 330 billion VND.
The Phu Bai Passenger Terminal T2 project was started by Vietnam Airports Corporation - JSC (ACV) on December 29, 2019 and officially inaugurated and put into operation on June 17, 2023.
According to Mr. Le Anh Tuan, Director of the Department of Transport of Thua Thien Hue province, Phu Bai international airport with a 2,700m runway can fly to North Asian countries, Japan, Korea, China, ASEAN countries and some European countries.
"The Phu Bai T2 passenger terminal has been completed and put into operation, with a capacity of 5 million passengers/year, opening up great opportunities for international trade, and potential travel agencies can open international tours. Experts and investors can also travel very conveniently; especially moving towards building an airport urban area, creating new momentum for the province's development...", said Mr. Le Anh Tuan.
