Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang affirmed that Vietnam consistently identifies friendly cooperation between localities of the two countries as an important component of the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

On November 13, in Hanoi, more than 250 delegates from Vietnam and China attended the Economic Corridor Cooperation Conference of 5 provinces and cities: Lao Cai, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh (Vietnam) and Yunnan (China) (Vietnam-China Economic Corridor Cooperation Conference).

The event was organized by the Hanoi People's Committee with the theme "Expanding forms of association and cooperation between provinces and cities in the Vietnam-China economic corridor to develop the economy in the new situation".

Attending the conference were Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Hung Ba, and leaders of 5 provinces and cities.

This is a major foreign affairs event of Hanoi in the context that Vietnam and China have been actively implementing the Vietnam-China Joint Statement after the visit of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, celebrating the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

The event contributes to promoting and introducing the cultural traditions, potentials and socio-economic achievements of Hanoi and the provinces.

In his opening speech, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh said that the conference aimed to continue promoting the effectiveness and maintaining good relations between localities, proposing substantive and highly feasible cooperation contents, suitable to the development requirements and potentials and advantages of the parties.

The conference attracted hundreds of delegates to register to attend the thematic workshop, showing that the conference's topics closely followed reality, addressing core and central issues in the development policies of localities in Vietnam and China.

The Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee believes that the Conference will achieve important results, laying the foundation for promoting closer, more effective and comprehensive cooperation activities between localities in the Economic Corridor in particular and between Vietnam and China in general.

In his speech, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang emphasized that the organization of the Conference demonstrated the close coordination between relevant agencies of the two countries to promote this important cooperation mechanism. The Vietnam-China cooperative relationship continues to develop positively, with cooperation taking place in many fields, being practical and in-depth.

The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam consistently identifies friendly cooperation between localities of the two countries as an important component of the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership; in which, cooperation between Vietnamese localities and Yunnan province has been formed and developed naturally on the basis of traditional friendship, long-standing ties between the people of the two sides and has been constantly consolidated and nurtured by generations of revolutionary predecessors as well as leaders of the two countries.

The Deputy Prime Minister raised issues for delegates to discuss. That is, localities need to be more determined, proactive and creative to contribute to the implementation of high-level agreements and common perceptions, and make continuous efforts to consolidate and foster the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership for increasingly sustainable development.

Delegates need to pay special attention to improving the effectiveness of existing cooperation mechanisms, along with joint research and exchange to establish new cooperation frameworks and models suitable to the potential, advantages, conditions and development priorities of localities on both sides, in order to create breakthroughs in economic - trade and investment cooperation; accelerate the connection of transport infrastructure, especially roads and railways in border areas; expand cultural - tourism cooperation; promote people-to-people exchanges between localities, especially for the young generation.

At the same time, strengthen cooperation to effectively manage and safely, effectively and sustainably use water resources; contribute to ensuring energy security and food security; ensure livelihoods, reduce poverty, and improve the lives of people on both sides.

Localities need to continue to coordinate closely to firmly consolidate the peaceful and friendly border; accelerate the opening and upgrading of a number of border gates in accordance with the planning and development plans for each period; create more favorable conditions for people in border areas to settle down, make a living and increase trade.

Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Hung Ba affirmed that China is willing to work with Vietnam, in accordance with the strategic common understanding of the top leaders of the two Parties, on the basis of traditional friendship, together on the path of socialism, continue to deepen comprehensive strategic cooperation, thereby promoting the continuous development of relations between the two Parties and the two countries.

Local cooperation plays a fundamental role in the China-Vietnam relationship. Accordingly, Yunnan province has maximized its natural, geographical and human advantages, and complementary industries, making economic corridor cooperation with Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Lao Cai and Yen Bai increasingly substantive in areas such as trade, investment, infrastructure connection, training and exchange of officials, culture and tourism, etc., bringing practical benefits to all parties.

The conference aims to summarize and evaluate the results of cooperation between Vietnamese and Chinese localities along the Vietnam-China economic corridor (Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Lao Cai and Yunnan (China) from the 9th Vietnam-China Economic Corridor Cooperation Conference (2019) to present.

Delegates also discussed difficulties and challenges and proposed solutions to promote and implement policies and cooperation activities for mutual benefit among localities in the economic corridor, seeking new, practical and effective cooperation opportunities.

On this occasion, the signing ceremony of cooperation agreements between localities and enterprises was held.
