Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi had a conversation about what needs to be done immediately to continue to maintain the development momentum and stabilize the Association in the spirit of "Solidarity - Discipline - Innovation - Creativity - Development".

+ The journey of the term over the past 3 years has overcome rapids to transform, keep pace with the strong changes in the life of journalism, political and social life, to maintain its position, to continue and be worthy of the 74-year history of HNBVN. On the occasion of the 74th anniversary of the Association's founding, temporarily put aside work and look back, how does the Permanent Vice President evaluate the development steps of our Association, sir?
- Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi: First of all, it must be said that every April, remembering tradition, for us, is always a feeling of gratitude and pride. Because "A tree has roots to grow green branches/Water has a source to have deep seas and rivers!". It is gratifying that, continuing that tradition, over the past 74 years since its establishment, the Vietnam Journalists Association has grown stronger in quantity and quality. From nearly 300 members in the beginning, the Association has now attracted more than 25,000 members, operating in 63 provincial and municipal Journalists Associations, 21 Inter-Associations and 223 affiliated Associations nationwide.
Under the leadership, direction and guidance of the Party and the State, together with the support and facilitation of the People, over the years, generations of journalists have always strived to fulfill their responsibilities, build an increasingly strong Association, and make worthy contributions to the cause of innovation, construction and protection of the Fatherland. Up to now, the Association's activities have had many positive changes, going into depth, contributing to further enhancing the position, role and effectiveness of the political, social and professional organization of journalists and having a pervasive influence in social life.
In particular, the Vietnam Journalists Association continues to innovate its leadership and direction methods with the motto of "focusing on the grassroots", ensuring focus, key points, closeness and determination. From there, it promptly grasps the operational situation of the Association at all levels to strengthen leadership and management, issue documents to specify with practical tasks and solutions. Continue to strengthen discipline, order and awareness of compliance with direction, organization and implementation of the Association at all levels and member journalists; attach importance to the work of inspection and supervision of the situation at the grassroots to proactively detect and promptly handle problems arising in the practical activities of the Association and press activities.
Pride and promotion of tradition are demonstrated by actions when the Vietnam Journalists Association at all levels has always stood side by side with its members and press agencies to operate proactively, effectively, flexibly, closely following the grassroots, promptly, honestly and objectively reflecting the activities of the People and the entire political system, contributing significantly to orienting public opinion, creating consensus in society, strengthening the People's trust in the leadership of the Party, the State and international friends, and understanding the achievements and important results the country has achieved in the recent past.
Of course, there is still a lot of work to do ahead of us, especially in 2024, when the Association at all levels will continue to successfully implement the Resolution of the 11th Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association with the key task of well implementing the Press Law, the 10 Articles of the Code of Ethics for Vietnamese Journalists, proactively innovating the content and methods of operation, perfecting the Association's organization and the team of journalists to meet the requirements of the tasks in the new period and preparing the content for the Congresses of the Association of Journalists at all levels, towards the 12th National Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association, term 2025 - 2030.

+ To achieve achievements worthy of our ancestors' traditions, it requires tireless efforts from those working in the Association. We have just had days of whirlwinds with consecutive major events such as the 2024 National Press Conference, the National Conference of the Vietnam Journalists Association, seminars, forums discussing many hot issues in the Association's activities, press activities... which have really made and are making a vibrant 2024 and promise to be even more vibrant, sir?
- Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi: Certainly. From the beginning of 2024, all levels of the Association from the central to local levels have strived, united, and been creative, successfully completing assigned political tasks with very encouraging results. A typical example is the 2024 National Press Festival, a major festival of journalists nationwide held in Ho Chi Minh City on the largest scale ever, with the participation of most central and local press agencies, of 63 Journalists Associations of provinces and cities, imbued with the pioneering and innovative spirit of the Vietnamese press.
The 2024 Press Festival is also an opportunity for journalists and the press public nationwide to prepare best and most carefully for the important event on the occasion of the upcoming 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press. Along with the traditional exhibition and display, the 2024 Press Festival will organize for the first time a National Press Forum with large-scale professional activities, with the participation of about 70 speakers who are experienced journalists, leaders of leading press agencies in Vietnam, and prestigious international media experts. The National Press Forum has become a high-quality professional activity with 10 discussion sessions on hot topics of interest to the press...
In addition to press exhibitions and professional discussions, the 2024 National Press Festival also brings to the public special cultural and artistic programs, awards for Spring Press Awards, the 3rd Journalists & Public Opinion Cup Football Tournament, and the music program "Convergence of Vitality"... In particular, this year's Press Festival has the participation of 64 OCOP product booths from 50 provinces and centrally-run cities, demonstrating the appeal and role of media and press in promoting regional economy.
In addition, the National Conference of the Vietnam Journalists Association was also held very successfully with important programs such as the Party Delegation Conference, the Standing Committee Conference, the Executive Committee Conference, the Conference summarizing the Association's work, in which there were discussions on amending and supplementing the Charter of the National Press Awards, the Program to support high-quality press works, summarizing emulation and rewards... The highlight of the past time is also the active implementation of foreign affairs with the solemn reception of international press delegations, most recently the delegation of the Korean Journalists Association, and in the next few days, the delegation of the Indonesian Journalists Association...
In addition, the protection and promotion of the cultural heritage values of Vietnamese journalism are also highly valued by the Association's leaders, so on January 18, 2024, in Tan Thai commune, Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province, the Vietnam Journalists Association coordinated with the People's Committee of Dai Tu district to organize the groundbreaking ceremony for the restoration and embellishment of the historical site of Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School. And right at the time we are talking, the 18th National Journalism Awards - 2023 has also entered the preliminary round with a record number of participating works... It can be said that these works have contributed to the successful completion of the political tasks of the Vietnam Journalists Association, helping to stabilize the ideological situation, and make the Associations at all levels in the country more united and unified. With this momentum, I believe that the work in the coming time will also be implemented actively and effectively.

- Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi: Talking about the tasks of the Vietnam Journalists Association this year, there will be a huge amount of work, requiring a very scientific and methodical determination to implement from the leaders, members and journalists. We have determined that the theme of activities for 2024 is: "Continue to build a strong Association: Solidarity - Discipline - Innovation - Creativity - Development "; complete the entire program, hold Congresses at all levels towards the 12th National Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association, term 2025 - 2030"... Closely following the tasks and activities of the Association, the activities of the Vietnam Journalists Association from the Central to local levels require a lot of effort to overcome challenges, continue to develop sustainably and reach new heights.
In the journey of development, the depth of tradition is the foundation, the solid support full of trust and pride. To do so, the Vietnam Journalists Association has set many key tasks in the coming time. Accordingly, we will continue to implement Directive No. 43-CT/TW dated April 8, 2020 of the Central Party Secretariat "On strengthening the Party's leadership over the activities of the Vietnam Journalists Association in the new situation"; Decision No. 348/QD-TTg dated April 6, 2023 of the Prime Minister on approving the Strategy "Digital transformation of journalism to 2025, with a vision to 2030", Notice No. 274/TB-VPCP dated July 12, 2023 of the Government Office; Conclusion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the working session with the Vietnam Journalists Association on June 13, 2023.
In addition, we will continue to guide the Association at all levels to implement the Charter of the 11th term; strengthen the direction, supervision and inspection of the implementation of the Charter and the Program of work of the Association for the entire term. Propaganda, dissemination, strengthening inspection and supervision of the implementation of the 10 Articles of the Code of Ethics for Vietnamese Journalists, Rules for members and journalists when participating in social networks; the emulation movement "Building a cultural environment in press agencies"; the management of members who are resident reporters of press agencies...
In addition, the important tasks that need to be done immediately will have to be "started" to prepare from now, which are to focus on guiding the Congresses at all levels towards the 12th Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association; implementing the program and plan on preparations for the 12th National Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association, term 2025 - 2030. Implementing Plan No. 345/KH-HNBVN dated October 9, 2023 of the Vietnam Journalists Association on Propaganda and organizing activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).
In addition, we also need to complete the Project "Organizing the National Press Conference" and the Project "Fostering and improving the political, theoretical, historical, professional ethics and journalism skills for journalists in the organizational system of the Vietnam Journalists Association". Deploying foreign affairs work in 2024 according to plan, while strengthening and expanding relations with Journalists Associations of countries in the region and the world... At the same time, implementing the policy of "Towards the grassroots", establishing a Working Group of the Vietnam Journalists Association to work with leaders of provinces, cities and departments and branches of the province to continue to enhance the role, quality and effectiveness of the activities of local Journalists Associations in the new situation will still be carried out in parallel with annual tasks that will be carried out in a scientific, creative manner, aiming at practicality, usefulness, associated with the rights and interests of members...

- Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi: We believe that 2024, for the Vietnam Journalists Association, will continue to be a year of innovation and acceleration, especially in preparation for the 12th Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association. Our determination has been demonstrated throughout our activities, converging in the 10 golden words : "Solidarity - Discipline - Innovation - Creativity - Development". I believe that this is the universal key to help us continue to maintain our position and position, continue to play a good role in gathering and uniting the team of members - journalists, contributing to creating unity within the Party, consensus in society; organizing and motivating the team of journalists to propagate the successful implementation of the Party's resolutions, the State's policies, and the country's great and comprehensive achievements in all fields. From there, it arouses the spirit of innovation, spreads a positive atmosphere, attracts members to participate, and contributes to making the Journalists Association an increasingly developed organization.
Not every idea or plan can immediately achieve its goals and not every program is as expected. But clearly, what the Vietnam Journalists Association has done over the past year is to create a vibrant atmosphere in the localities, unity, order and efficiency in its activities. We always have faith that with the intelligence and solidarity of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association, the spirit of solidarity and unanimity of the provincial and municipal Associations, the Inter-Associations, and the Sub-Associations, we will certainly create a breakthrough strength for us to complete our tasks well, and implement them systematically and consistently according to the set roadmap.

Of course, I would like to note that, in the context of many current challenges, press planning, amendments to the Press Law, and changes in the press system have and will continue to have a significant impact on the minds of many members. The more difficult it is, the more effort we must make. We always determine that we need to promptly grasp the thoughts and aspirations of our members, continue to innovate the organization of the Association, coordinate with management agencies and press agencies to encourage and effectively resolve the aspirations of members where there are changes in the organization, innovate training and fostering to improve the political level, professional ethics, and professional expertise of members in line with modern journalism technology, strengthen solidarity and cohesion among journalists, and participate more effectively in the direction and management of the press in the new situation.
Therefore, the core issue is still the human problem, that we overcome ourselves, overcome the "halo" that we have. To overcome obstacles, there is no other way but to be determined together many times more... In the journey of development, the depth of tradition is the foundation, the solid support full of trust and pride.
