Coffee growing and processing knowledge is identified in almost all districts in Dak Lak province; mainly concentrated in Buon Ma Thuot city and the districts of Cu M'gar, Krong Pac, Ea H'leo, Cu Kuin, and Buon Ho town.
The cultural subjects of “Knowledge of growing and processing coffee” are individuals and families who hold the knowledge of growing and processing this plant, which has been passed down through generations. Most of the indigenous people such as Ede, M'nong and immigrants from other places have come here to live and grow coffee since the 1950s. Through the development process, knowledge of growing and processing coffee has been continuously inherited and innovated over time.
Mr. Lai Duc Dai said that in the coming time, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Lak province will have a plan to encourage functional agencies, local organizations and the agricultural business community to strengthen research and dissemination of cultural values associated with the coffee production process, in order to protect and promote the value of this heritage.
Dak Lak is considered the coffee capital of Vietnam because of its largest area and output in the country. With a current area of 212,106 hectares and an output of over 535,672 tons/year, coffee trees not only have economic and social significance but also have great significance for the culture and tourism of Dak Lak province. The process of developing the coffee industry combined with the development of eco-tourism and on-site culture has attracted more and more tourists to Dak Lak.
