Agricultural, forestry and fishery exports reached 1.932 billion USD
According to the report of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, since the beginning of the year, Hanoi's agricultural, forestry and fishery exports have reached 1.932 billion USD, of which agricultural and food products have reached 1.3 billion USD, up 43.8% over the same period in 2023. There are currently 300 enterprises exporting agricultural, forestry and fishery products, most of which have factories in Hanoi, purchasing raw materials from provinces and cities for packaging and export. Up to now, Hanoi has maintained and developed 35 rice growing areas, 104 vegetable growing areas, 56 fruit growing areas, 66 aquaculture growing areas, and 162 key and concentrated livestock growing areas. This has contributed to making Hanoi one of the localities with great potential for exporting key agricultural products to foreign markets.
In order to increase export value, recently, the agricultural sector has proactively advised and directed, integrating plans to strengthen production assurance for local consumption, while supporting export enterprises to grasp regulations to improve quality and food safety, meeting export market requirements. According to Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Dinh Hoa, currently, the city has a number of major agricultural export products such as: cinnamon, spices (garlic, ginger, chili ...), green tea, black tea, coffee, vegetables, tubers, fruits ...
For raw material areas, the agricultural sector is actively implementing the issuance of growing area codes for agricultural products to meet export requirements and improve the quality of agricultural product management. Up to now, Hanoi has been granted 14 growing area codes for fruit trees (grapefruit, longan, banana), vegetables and 4 packaging facilities with a capacity of 30-50 tons/day/facility for export. The growing areas granted codes maintain conditions to meet the requirements of importing countries, and are eligible for export to markets in China, Europe, the UK, Australia, Japan, the US, etc.
In the coming time, the city will continue to develop many products with export potential such as: More than 7,000 hectares of Japonica rice; 3,200 hectares of pink bananas; over 5,000 hectares of safe vegetables; 50 hectares of organic vegetables and many processed products with export potential...
Improve product quality
Currently, Hanoi's agricultural, forestry and fishery export enterprises are facing difficulties in accessing raw material areas that meet international standards and are qualified to export to markets that are demanding in terms of organic standards, GlobalGAP, HACCP, and ISO 22000.
General Director of Hanoi Agricultural Investment and Development Company Limited, Le Van Tuan, said that in order to export rice products, localities need to organize production in large fields, encourage businesses and people to cooperate with each other; promote the construction of growing areas that meet product quality standards associated with specialized growing areas with growing area codes, traceability of origin. Hanoi City also needs to promote the construction of safe agricultural areas associated with growing area codes; focus on building linkage chains and brands for key agricultural products, ensuring export standards.
To support businesses and cooperatives in expanding the export market for vegetables, tubers and fruits, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Dinh Hoa said that the agricultural sector continues to coordinate with localities to promote propaganda about trade agreements, key market barriers, free trade agreements (FTAs), the Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP)... to businesses, production, trading and exporting establishments of agricultural, forestry and fishery products; coordinate with provinces and cities to ensure food safety, improve the quality of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in the period of 2021-2025; support localities to promote the export of deeply processed agricultural products with production and export advantages, agricultural, forestry and fishery products capable of meeting regulations, quality standards, food safety, traceability, social responsibility standards, environment...
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) Pham Van Duy, Hanoi needs to select products with strengths, build a production roadmap associated with processing for export; identify key products with potential for cultivation, invest in large enough raw material areas, and link with provinces and cities to invest in raw material areas to bring back for processing in Hanoi. Hanoi also needs to invest in new and upgrade wholesale markets, agricultural, forestry and fishery logistics centers to collect raw materials from the provinces to bring back for preservation and processing to serve domestic consumption, export, provide exhibition and fair services, conferences and seminars, train human resources for agricultural development and sustainable food systems to expand export markets.
