7 units representing the stages in the chain from researchers, fish fry, feed, veterinary medicine to processing and consumption have together established the G7 chain to bring comprehensive solutions to the marine fish farming industry in Quang Ninh.
Quang Ninh’s aquaculture industry is transforming into a large-scale marine farming model, requiring close linkages between stages in the production chain. However, the lack of connectivity between links from breeds, feed, veterinary medicine to processing and consumption remains a major challenge.
Recently, in Van Don, 7 units representing important fields in the marine fish farming industry joined hands to establish the G7 chain to provide comprehensive solutions for marine farmers. From there, the full potential of aquaculture in the coastal areas of Quang Ninh province was fully exploited.
The G7 chain aims for a new farming process and develops the marine farming industry in line with the message "Developing the marine farming industry towards safety, sustainability and prosperity".
Mr. Nguyen Huu Dung, Chairman of the Vietnam Marine Aquaculture Association, said: "The launch of the linkage chain will be the driving force to promote the development of the marine aquaculture industry in a sustainable direction, optimizing economic efficiency for farmers. There needs to be close cooperation between members, along with synchronous support policies from management agencies for this model to truly be effective. The establishment of the marine aquaculture industry linkage chain in Quang Ninh is an important first step, opening up prospects for long-term and sustainable development for the Vietnamese marine aquaculture industry.
Representatives of members in the G7 chain.
7 units in the chain include Van Don Marine Aquaculture Association (Vietnam Marine Aquaculture Association) which acts as a bridge between businesses and farmers, providing policy information and industry development orientation; Faculty of Aquaculture - Vietnam National University of Agriculture: Pathology research, training and technology transfer; VMC Vietnam Company: Specializing in providing medicine to prevent and treat shrimp and fish diseases, as well as technical support for testing - disease diagnosis and building antibiotic resistance maps for controlled use of antibiotics; Siam Brother Vietnam Company Limited: Providing marine farming materials such as nets, buoys, HDPE ropes; Phuong Anh Seafood Joint Stock Company: Providing breeds, consuming and processing finished fish products; Archer Daniels Midland Vietnam Company Limited (ADM): Providing marine fish feed and supporting nutritional services; Thanh Thuy Aquatic Products Company Limited: Representative of the chain, directly supplying products and services to meet the needs of farmers in Quang Ninh province, and sharing experiences in forming and building a linkage chain.
The parties involved in the marine aquaculture chain commit to bring all their capacity and responsibility to cooperate and build a closed value chain throughout the marine aquaculture activities to provide comprehensive solutions to meet all the needs of farmers quickly and effectively. Support marine farmers through many different forms such as: Supply, support, care, research, training, promotion... to promote the local aquaculture industry and neighboring areas.
Associate Professor, Dr. Truong Dinh Hoai, representative of the aquatic pathology research group, Faculty of Aquaculture, Vietnam National University of Agriculture, hopes that participating in the chain can provide members with updated new knowledge and apply research to farming practices, helping to reduce difficulties in production.
"Participating in the chain helps people access quality products and services from reputable businesses in the chain. Hopefully, with close cooperation between members, the new production chain model will promote the blue ocean economy, optimizing the value chain from research, technology to trade and distribution. Bringing practical benefits to both the local economy and the Vietnamese seafood industry." - Ms. Pham Thi Thu Hien, Head of the Van Don Marine Farming Association, shared.
