On the evening of December 4, speaking with VietNamNet reporter, Mr. Tran Phan The My, Vice Chairman of Thuong Dinh Ward People's Committee (Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi) said that people erecting barriers in alleys on Thuong Dinh Street is against the law. The Ward People's Committee held a meeting with relevant agencies and representatives of the 2A, 2B Mechanical Residential Area to request their removal.

"Currently, alleys 94, 126, and 144 Thuong Dinh have removed barriers to prevent vehicles during rush hour, while some alleys such as 58 and 105 still have barriers. For alleys with barriers, the ward will inspect and continue to remove them," said Mr. My.

The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thuong Dinh Ward added that after removing the barrier, the unit proposed to the Thanh Xuan District Police to have a traffic diversion plan, assigning forces to be on duty to direct traffic to prevent traffic jams and prevent vehicles from going in the opposite direction.

Previously, residents in some alleys of the 2A and 2B Mechanical Residential Areas set up barriers to block motorbikes during rush hour (from 7-8:30 am).

The reason given by the residents is that during rush hour, many vehicles enter the alley to drive in the opposite direction onto the Nga Tu So overpass. This causes congestion in the alley, traffic accidents, and affects the lives of the residents in the alley.

People installing barriers to prevent vehicles from entering alleys in Hanoi are contributing to stopping traffic violations? According to people living in alleys 127, 155 Nguyen Trai; 126, 144 Thuong Dinh (Thanh Xuan, Hanoi), only those who intentionally drive in the wrong direction are protesting the installation of barriers to prevent vehicles from entering alleys.
