Living well with scientific research

Here, Professor Nguyen Cong Khanh said that for a long time, many lecturers have been afraid and have little passion for scientific research, but he affirmed that this is a field where one can make a good living.

"From my own experience, after 40 years of scientific research, my life has not been difficult.

I never cared about salary, I don't even know how much my salary is. Because I do scientific research, work as a "mercenary" in the East - West - South - North, sometimes just 3 days of "mercenary work", the income is equal to a month's salary.

Later I will have enough houses and cars. Saying that means we must know how to do scientific research.

At first, we may work for free and it will be difficult to make money because we don't have a reputation yet, but after we have established our reputation, making a living as a scientific researcher is very simple," Mr. Khanh said openly.

According to Mr. Khanh: "The weakness of scientists in general in Vietnam and of scientific research lecturers in particular today is not knowing how to work in groups.

The more knowledge is shared, the more it grows and increases inner strength. If a person only studies science alone, he will surely lose all motivation after a few times of having his work... returned.

If they step back and become complacent with themselves, coupled with worries about making a living, those lecturers often gradually wear down their scientific research duties.

This expert believes that for a long time, scientists have only seen scores and applause. They have not seen the true value of scientists, just like people doing charity work do not really know the meaning of doing good deeds.

So once the school gives that person a launching pad, resources but does not know how to exploit them, only exploring with personal efforts, surely that person will be lonely in research.

This will cause both sides to suffer, the individual researcher will not know the potential, and the school's reputation will not be enhanced.

Therefore, the advice that this expert gives to domestic scientific researchers is that, if you want to succeed, learn from international and developed countries, and whatever you do, you must have motivation and "team work".

It is known that Professor Khanh has nearly 40 years of work experience and has completed 15 scientific research topics at the National University, Ministry, key Ministry and State levels.

His scientific research achievements are demonstrated through monographs, textbooks, references, guides, scientific articles published in prestigious domestic and international specialized journals...

Success requires... integrity

According to Dr. Luong Ngoc Minh, Vice Principal of Hanoi University, scientific research is an important and core activity in universities.

Creating conditions and encouraging lecturers and staff to conduct scientific research is one of the top priorities of this school.

In recent times, the number of school-level scientific research topics of Hanoi University has increased steadily. "We hope that teachers who are passionate and eager to do scientific research will always accompany teachers on this journey," affirmed Dr. Luong Ngoc Minh.

Dr. Vu Thanh Binh, Deputy Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Environment - Ministry of Education and Training, said that in recent times, scientific research at universities has made important developments.

Schools have paid attention to scientific and technological activities and built policies and mechanisms to encourage lecturers to participate in scientific research.

In addition to the topics assigned by the Ministry of Education and Training, schools boldly register for national-level topics, coordinate with businesses to implement science and technology topics or support provinces in scientific research to support socio-economic development.

The most prominent is the international publication of universities under the Ministry of Education and Training. Over the past 5 years, the growth of international publication of universities under the Ministry of Education and Training increased by 25%.

Sharing with Dan Tri reporter about the fact that many universities have potential but scientific research activities are not much, lecturers are not very interested in research work, Dr. Vu Thanh Binh said that scientific research is currently divided into groups of schools. It can be seen that the reason why lecturers are not interested in scientific research is due to the lack of attention from school leaders; the scientific research capacity of lecturers is limited.

Dr. Tran Vu Hai - Deputy Head of the Department of Science Management and Administration of Hanoi Law University Journal pointed out that the rate of lecturers doing scientific research at this school is high because the training facility has many incentives to encourage such activities.
