Vinh Linh strengthens job creation for workers

Vinh Linh district currently has 18 commune-level administrative units, including 3 towns and 15 communes with nearly 99,600 people. The number of people of working age accounts for more than 52.61% of the population. Laborers have a great need to find jobs, however, the problem of solving labor and employment still has many difficulties and challenges. Therefore, the district has determined to focus on connecting labor supply and demand so that many workers and businesses can meet each other, creating conditions for workers to find jobs through exchange and dialogue.

In Vinh Linh district, there is currently the Tay Bac Ho Xa industrial park and 3 industrial clusters with over 1,000 industrial production establishments and enterprises in various industries such as garment, mechanical, seafood processing, forestry, agricultural products, rubber latex, brick production, mineral exploitation, construction materials... so a lot of labor is needed.

Vice Chairman of Vinh Linh District People's Committee Nguyen Thien Tung said: In order to promote the advantage of young and quality human resources to exploit the potential and advantages of serving in industrial parks and industrial clusters, the district focuses on building a highly skilled workforce. The locality attaches great importance to direct and online job exchanges and dialogues, and local trading floors. Through this form, workers and businesses have many opportunities to meet in a transparent labor supply and demand relationship, protected by law so that workers can have suitable jobs, improve their income, and stabilize their lives. Every year, the district directs the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (LD,TB&XH) to coordinate with the Center for Vocational Education - Continuing Education and coordinate with functional units to open vocational training classes, training, and transfer of science and technology, attracting the participation of thousands of students.

Thanks to the timely implementation of directives, resolutions, and action programs of the central government, the province, and the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, the work of creating jobs for workers in Vinh Linh has achieved remarkable results in recent times. In 2023, the district created new jobs for 2,437 people, reaching more than 121% of the annual plan, of which 344 people were sent to work abroad under contracts, reaching 215% of the annual plan. In the first 9 months of 2024, the district created new jobs for 1,886 people, reaching 88.95% of the annual plan. It is expected that by the end of 2024, the plan for labor and employment will be exceeded.

To achieve the above results, in recent times, Vinh Linh district has focused on developing industry to become a breakthrough sector, playing an important role in promoting local socio-economic development. The district has focused large resources on building and perfecting the infrastructure system, flexibly applying many policies permitted by law, creating the best conditions for businesses to invest in production plants, and solving employment for workers.

Strive to increase the average annual growth rate of industrial production value to 15%-17%, by 2025, the total industrial production value will reach over 2,000 billion VND. Focus on using advanced and modern machinery and equipment in production and vocational training to create highly skilled workers, suitable for the new requirements of the labor market.

However, the issue of employment and labor supply in the province in general and Vinh Linh district in particular is still facing difficulties and challenges. The job creation for workers in industrial parks and industrial clusters; working outside the province, working abroad under contracts is still not commensurate with the potential. The process of restoring and expanding investment, production and business of small and medium enterprises in the area is still weak, leading to low recruitment demand, not rich and diverse.

It is forecasted that the labor market in Quang Tri province in the coming time will increase in the number of workers in the fields of energy, agricultural-forestry-fishery processing, garment, especially key projects in economic zones and industrial parks of the province are being accelerated to complete and put into operation.

Therefore, vocational training establishments in the district need to strengthen cooperation with businesses to organize training programs, improve skills for workers, and provide the best labor supply services for businesses. Focus on developing the labor market through the form of exchange, job dialogue, and job exchange.

This is a very necessary and meaningful activity for both employees and employers. Enterprises will be able to recruit workers suitable for the job position in order to produce more products, creating more motivation for enterprises to solve employment and increase income for employees.
