Pig price today 11/8

* Pig price in the North decreased by the highest 2,000 VND/kg.

Specifically, Lao Cai and Hung Yen provinces both reduced by 2,000 VND/kg, to 50,000 VND/kg and 51,000 VND/kg, respectively.

Except for the two provinces of Bac Giang and Phu Tho, the remaining localities also reduced by 1,000 VND/kg to 50,000 - 52,000 VND/kg.

Today's live pig price in the North is around 50,000 - 52,000 VND/kg.

* The live pig market in the Central and Central Highlands regions decreased by 1,000 VND/kg.

Currently, Nghe An province is trading at 49,000 VND/kg, down 1,000 VND/kg.

After a decrease of 1,000 VND/kg, Khanh Hoa and Quang Ngai provinces purchased at 51,000 VND/kg and 52,000 VND/kg. The remaining localities did not record any new fluctuations.

Currently, the purchase price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions is around 49,000 - 53,000 VND/kg.

* According to a survey, the price of live pigs in the South increased by 1,000 VND/kg.

Specifically, 53,000 VND/kg is the purchase price recorded in Soc Trang province, an increase of 1,000 VND/kg. Other provinces and cities continue to purchase stably compared to yesterday.

The price of live pigs in the Southern region today is around 51,000 - 55,000 VND/kg.

* Currently, farmers are still waiting for market fluctuations every day, because this is the time to rush to restore the herd. However, the return of African swine fever has made people hesitate in investing.

According to Mr. Nguyen Kim Doan, Vice President of the Dong Nai Province Livestock Association, November is the time to import pigs for the year-end and Lunar New Year. Due to low prices, farmers are hesitant to import pigs to restock their herds.

Besides, the epidemic situation is seriously threatening so people do not raise livestock.

However, according to Mr. Phan Kim Dang - Deputy Director of the Department of Animal Husbandry (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), the total herd of pigs and poultry this year increased by 5%, the supply of livestock and poultry meat for the end of the year and Tet will be guaranteed, there is no shortage. However, the prices of these items are expected to increase by about 10-15% compared to other months of the year.
