North cools down
On March 12, the price of live pigs in the Northern region turned to decrease, in which, provinces such as Bac Giang, Nam Dinh, Thai Nguyen, Thai Binh and Hanoi recorded the adjusted price of 77,000 VND/kg, 1,000 VND/kg lower than the previous day.
Currently, this area records transaction prices fluctuating between 76,000 - 77,000 VND/kg, of which the lowest level of 76,000 VND/kg is recorded in Lao Cai, Yen Bai and Ninh Binh.

The South continues to heat up
In contrast to the North, the price of live pigs in the South continued to increase today. Today, Binh Duong and Ca Mau provinces adjusted the price to 82,000 VND/kg, while Dong Thap reached 81,000 VND/kg.
Currently, the purchase price of live pigs in the South fluctuates between 80,000 - 83,000 VND/kg. Dong Nai - continues to be the locality holding the record for live pig prices today (83,000 VND/kg).
Central - Western Nguyen region remains stable
Meanwhile, the Central Highlands region witnessed the price of live pigs moving sideways, remaining stable in the range of 75,000 - 82,000 VND/kg. Lam Dong and Binh Thuan currently have the highest price in the region, reaching 82,000 VND/kg, while the lowest price of 75,000 VND/kg was recorded in Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Khanh Hoa.
Proposal to increase price stability
Faced with the rising price of live pigs, Vissan Company - a unit participating in the pork price stabilization program in Ho Chi Minh City - recently sent a document proposing a price increase to the Department of Finance and the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City.
According to Mr. Phan Van Dung, Deputy General Director of Vissan, since March 3, the company has adjusted pork prices when the price of live pigs reached 74,000 VND/kg. However, with the current increase, the price of live pigs has reached 79,000 - 81,000 VND/kg, nearly 6.8% higher than the previous stable level, putting the company in a difficult situation in preserving capital.
In the context of a shortage of live pigs, Vissan believes that the price of live pigs will likely continue to increase and remain high. Therefore, the company proposed to increase the price of pork products by 6-7% and apply from March 17 after approval. According to the proposal, the price of shoulder and armpit meat will increase to 167,000 VND/kg, ham 141,000 VND/kg, and lean thigh and shoulder to 188,000 VND/kg.
