(PLVN) - According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Khoi, policy consultant at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI), the FTA Index creates a comprehensive picture, helping localities assess their position, thereby promoting efforts and healthy competition.
Recently, Industry and Trade Magazine organized a discussion with the theme: “FTA Index: Meaning and value of comprehensive change in FTA implementation”. The discussion attracted the participation of experts and leaders from ministries, sectors, localities, enterprises and industry associations.
Here, delegates focused on discussing the implementation of Vietnam's Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) in recent times. The discussion content included: highlights of the FTA Index, implementation methods and progress of the FTA Index development - advantages and difficulties.
From there, more clearly identify the meaning and impact of implementing the FTA Index and the value of comprehensive changes in FTA implementation; recommend solutions for ministries, localities, industry associations, and enterprises to operate and implement the FTA Index well in order to contribute to improving the effectiveness of implementation and taking advantage of FTAs in the coming time.
According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Khoi, policy consultant at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI), the FTA Index creates a comprehensive picture, helping localities assess their position, thereby promoting efforts and healthy competition.
The representative of the Department of Industry and Trade of Bac Giang province also emphasized that the FTA Index is an important tool to help localities objectively assess the effectiveness of FTA implementation in the area; the FTA Index helps to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of state management, thereby helping local state management agencies review, adjust or issue appropriate, transparent, feasible and effective policies to effectively exploit FTAs.
According to the leader of the Department of Industry and Trade of Bac Giang province, the FTA Index helps promote the coordination mechanism between departments, branches and localities in the province; at the same time, strengthen the work of supporting enterprises to participate in the international economic integration market, especially supporting the development of export markets and trade defense measures.
In addition, through the FTA Index, local agencies and enterprises can review the implementation of the Government's action plan in conjunction with the action plans of the provinces and cities that develop the FTA Index to identify what has been done and what needs to be further promoted, thereby finding more specific solutions and policies for enterprises in their area to take advantage of the FTA.
