Recently, a clip was shared on social networks of a railway barrier suddenly opening, causing an accident in Bac Giang.
According to the shared content, at around 10:10 a.m. on March 19, on the Hanoi - Lang Son railway line, through Huong Lac commune, Lang Giang district, a railway traffic accident occurred. The entire incident was recorded by a surveillance camera.
At that time, the car was waiting for the train to pass when the barrier suddenly lifted. The driver of the car thought it was safe so he moved across the tracks. When he reached the middle of the tracks, a railway repair locomotive suddenly rushed forward, hit the side of the car, pushed it about 10m before stopping.
The Traffic Police Department of Bac Giang Province Police said that the driver of the car with license plate 29A-..72 crossing the railway was Mr. Q, residing in Xuong Lam commune, Lang Giang district.
"When Mr. Q saw the barrier open and thought it was safe, he passed through. At that moment, a train engine that was repairing the rails came and hit the car, knocking it off its feet. Fortunately, the train engine slowed down in time, so there were no casualties or damage to the car," said the Traffic Police Department of Bac Giang Province.
Immediately after the incident, the Traffic Police Department of Bac Giang Province arrived at the scene to investigate and clarify the incident.
Authorities are also working together to clarify the cause and solution to the situation where automatic barriers open before trains arrive.
