Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Director of the Tax Department Mai Son emphasized the important role of science, technology and innovation in socio-economic development and enhancing national competitiveness. According to Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo, science and technology are not only the core driving force helping Vietnam narrow the gap with advanced countries but also a factor ensuring sustainable development.
The context of globalization and the fourth industrial revolution is placing the tax sector in urgent need of applying information technology and digital transformation. Innovation is not only an inevitable trend but also an urgent requirement to improve management efficiency, ensure transparency, and at the same time reduce costs and time for both tax authorities and taxpayers.

Specifically, the tax sector aims to comprehensively modernize tax administration, ensuring compliance with international practices and Vietnamese laws. The focus of this process is to build a synchronous, public, transparent and fair tax administration institution, based on the application of risk management, creating favorable conditions for taxpayers to voluntarily comply. At the same time, tax authorities need to improve their management capacity, operate an integrated, centralized information technology system, meet the requirements of data processing, provide information for management, direction and operation, as well as optimize electronic services and digital services for taxpayers.
In addition, the tax sector aims to develop an integrated, centralized tax management system that focuses on people and businesses. This system not only ensures publicity, transparency and efficiency but also contributes to promoting administrative reform and improving the taxpayer experience. The application of information technology will be deployed in the direction of e-Government and digital transformation, ensuring connectivity, data integration and high security, thereby improving the service quality of tax authorities, meeting development requirements in the context of increasingly strong technology development.
Within the framework of the workshop, representatives of technology solution providers, departments and professional units of the tax department and regional tax branches assessed the current status of the information technology system.
Delegates discussed and proposed specific solutions to redesign business processes and restructure information technology systems.
These proposals aim to improve tax management efficiency, reduce administrative procedures, and create maximum convenience for taxpayers, based on international practices and ensuring the ability to implement in Vietnam.
At the workshop, Deputy Director Mai Son highly appreciated the importance of receiving feedback from experts, technology solution providers and representatives of professional units.
He affirmed that his enthusiastic opinions and specific, practical recommendations are with the desire to contribute to the tax sector in strongly promoting the digital transformation process, restructuring the tax sector's information technology system towards building a modern, transparent, effective tax system, in line with the development trend of the digital age.
