Groundbreaking ceremony for the Da Nang Data Center project
The Da Nang Data Center project located in Da Nang High-Tech Park has a total area of 2 hectares, with a total investment of VND800 billion in phase 1 and an estimated VND1,200 billion in phase 2. The center is designed according to international standards TIA-942C Rated-3 and Uptime Tier-3, ensuring stability, safety and high operational efficiency.
Upon completion, the Da Nang Data Center will have up to 1,000 racks; total IT load capacity will reach 18.5 MW. Rack capacity range supports from 7kW to 16kW/rack; and from 20kW to 132kW/rack, especially suitable for AI server systems with high computing density. This is considered the largest data center in Da Nang to date.
The project pays special attention to sustainable development factors within the ESG framework, with a focus on green transformation and energy efficiency. Typically, the application of liquid cooling solutions combined with fanwall systems specifically for large capacity racks - helps optimize cooling efficiency, save energy and maintain the PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) index at a level not exceeding 1.4.
Once operational, the Da Nang Data Center will serve as a key digital infrastructure platform, effectively serving businesses operating in the fields of e-commerce, fintech, cloud computing, OTT, artificial intelligence and many other industries that are being deeply affected by the wave of digital transformation.
Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the City's National Assembly Delegation Nguyen Van Quang spoke at the project groundbreaking ceremony.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of the project, Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang emphasized that the Da Nang Data Center is considered one of the city's driving projects in the current period, and is one of the important factors contributing to the formation of a modern technology ecosystem, making Da Nang a smart city, a leading data center, innovation and digital transformation in the Central region and the whole country.
“Resolution 57 of the Politburo clearly identified that one of the driving forces for development in the new period of Vietnam in general and localities in particular is digital transformation. To transform digitally, we must have digital infrastructure. And one of the important digital infrastructures is data centers,” the Secretary of the City Party Committee assessed.
Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang said that, up to now, the Da Nang Data Center project is the project that has completed all the steps of the procedure, received the fastest investment policy; has the investor preparing and implementing the project the fastest; and this is also the largest data center in Da Nang up to now.
“On behalf of the city leaders, I acknowledge, commend and highly appreciate the relevant departments, agencies, units and investors for actively coordinating and completing the project procedures so that the project can be implemented in the fastest time. I wish the project a successful implementation, attracting many partners to cooperate and develop according to the set goals”, said Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang.
Signing of Memorandum of Understanding on project implementation cooperation between the investor and partner units
The Da Nang Data Center project started submitting documents in September 2024; within just 3 months, on December 16, 2024, the project received the investment policy approval decision. After 3 months of preparation, the project officially started on March 27, 2025.
This is a testament to the high determination, strong engagement and strategic vision of the city's leaders in creating favorable conditions for businesses to invest in the high-tech sector. At the same time, it affirms the city's long-term vision in digital transformation, building digital government and developing the national digital economy.
