Propose initiatives to solve major problems facing the organization in the new situation

Held from December 1-3 at the National Convention Center, Hanoi, the 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union will be attended by 1,100 officially convened delegates.

The 13th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, term 2023 - 2028 is an important political event of the working class, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and a broad political activity among cadres, union members, and workers nationwide.

Chairing the press conference held on the afternoon of November 22, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, emphasized that the 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union took place at a time when union members and workers nationwide, together with the entire Party, people and army, were striving, seizing opportunities and advantages, overcoming all difficulties and challenges, determined to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW dated June 12, 2021 of the Politburo on "Innovation of organization and operation of Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation".

The Congress has the task of assessing the implementation results of the Resolution of the 12th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; determining the goals and tasks for the 2023-2028 term; reviewing the leadership and direction of the Executive Committee of the 12th Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, electing the Executive Committee of the 13th Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; assessing the implementation and approving the Charter of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (amended and supplemented).

It can be seen that in the past term, in the context of many difficulties and challenges, with the efforts of the union staff, union members and workers, union activities continued to have important changes, especially in representing, caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers.

The scale of the organization has been expanded, the quality of some aspects of work has been improved, the direction and organization of implementation have become increasingly proactive and flexible; many new models and effective ways of doing things have emerged, with widespread influence, recognized by union members, workers, Party committees, authorities and employers, continuing to affirm the important role of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers, making worthy contributions to the cause of national development and innovation.

To celebrate the Congress, many meaningful activities were organized such as the first-ever 2023 Workers' Forum; Literary composition contest on the topic of Workers and Trade Unions; 2023 National Workers' Football Championship; Online contest "Sending trust, giving expectations" is a broad political activity among cadres, union members, and workers, welcoming the 13th Congress of Vietnam Trade Union; Organizing emulation movements at the grassroots level towards the Congress; implementing the program "Gifts from the Congress" for union members, workers in difficult circumstances, and those suffering from serious illnesses.

Regarding some new points in the organization, the Organizing Committee said that the 13th Congress will increase discussion, open 10 thematic forums to discuss and propose initiatives for 10 major issues facing trade union organizations.

Forums are held before the official congress date to collect opinions and proposals to synthesize and incorporate into congress documents and form solutions to organize the implementation of resolutions.

In order to enhance the application of digital technology in organizing and serving the Congress, the Organizing Committee designed and operated an application (app) on mobile devices to provide information, documents, exchange and interact with delegates. Communication and celebration decoration work was also deployed systematically and extensively in the trade union system, on all media and communication platforms.

In addition, the art program was carefully invested in content, applying modern technology to create highlights and an exciting atmosphere in the opening session of the Congress.

In addition, the programs to celebrate the success of the Congress will be integrated with activities to care for workers; presenting gifts from the Congress to union members and workers in difficult circumstances; developing and implementing a plan to care for Tet for union members and workers.

Of the 1,100 delegates, 510 are part-time union officials and direct production workers; 384 delegates have postgraduate degrees - accounting for 35.39%. Delegates are Labor Heroes, Armed Forces Heroes, National Emulation Fighters, artists, teachers, doctors who have been awarded the title of Merit, the title of People's, and delegates who have been awarded the Labor Medal are 115 people.
